Ellen or Eleanor Sumsion had about 7 children between 1842 and 1859, all the records show Michael Sumsion as the father, yet he never shows up in the census. up to 1881 Eleanor is shown as married, in 1891 she is a widow.
was Michael a sailor, serviceman, we cannot find out, any help please?

Here Michael appears to be lodging in a lodging house

Michael SUMSION - 45 - merchants clerk - born Colerne, Wiltshire.
He is stated as married.
