Can this be enhanced?
« on: Friday 16 September 05 19:09 BST (UK) »
Hi All,

It's me again with another request.

My husband was recently sent this copy of a photograph, but as you can see it's not very clear.

I am at the moment enjoying playing with colourising photographs and although I have a long, long way to go, I can see light at the end of the tunnel.  However, when it comes to restoring/enhancing photos, I am completely and utterly hopeless.

If anyone can explain, in very simple terms, what I need to do to improve this picture, I would be very grateful.

Regards
Sandie

Oops, sorry, it's a bit large.  I daren't try to alter it, I may never see it again!

Curves tool in the GIMP, duplicated layer with gaussian blur, transparency mask, despeckle filter, levels tool to desaturate.

I've had a bash.
Maybe with name and rank and medal details the correct colours could be shown.

Laverdiere & Man of Kent

What can I say?  They look great.

Unfortunately I don't have the info. on medals, but the fact that he can now be seen is great.

Thank you both very much
