Wrentham parish records
« on: Saturday 22 October 05 06:16 BST (UK) »
Hi,
Please can anyone help.
I'm researching my Clarke family in Carlton Coleville
and have found that the two eldest children
where born in Wrentham,
Eliza Clarke 1822 & Sarah Clark 1826
parents John and Elizabeth,
I would love to find Elizabeths maiden name
if it's on the registers.
Thank you,
Moira

Hi Moira, have looked at Wrentham baptisms

Eliza Clarke d/o John and Elizabeth Clarke baptised 23rd May 1824
Sarah Clarke d/o John and Elizabeth Clarke baptised 26th February 1826

Unfortunately no maiden name, but I wondered whether they had also married in Wrentham and bingo!  :D

John Clarke married Elizabeth Cotton
6th February 1824 at Wrentham
Witnesses: Thomas Gooden and John Harvey
Rector: W Barlee

Regards
Anne

Anne, you are a star.
Thank you so much for finding my family
and adding another name to my tree.
I don't have anything on Wrentham,
do you know if it's  possable to buy the records on film
or fiche?
Thank you again,
Kind regards,
Moira

Hi Moira, I looked up your family at my local records office (Lowestoft) which, as well as  holding fiche of Wrentham parish registers, they also have a team of volunteers who transcribe registers of certain parishes.  Luckily Wrentham has been transcribed and indexed and bound into a book held in the records office, which made searching very easy.

As to whether the records are available to buy on fiche I'm not sure, I have never bought any myself as I do live very close to the RO and all my family and ancestors are local to Suffolk (in fact my own grandparents lived at Wrentham!)

Regards
Anne

Hi Anne,
Thanks for the reply, you are luck to live
close to the record office.
What a coincidence that your grandparents live
in Wrentham, Let me know if you find
any Clarke's or Cotton's in your tree.
I've just looked on the Suffolk Record Office
site and I'm in luck as they have fiche
of Wrentham.
Once again many thanks for taking
the time to look for my family.
Kindest Regards,
Moira
