Hi, Jane...am confused as to why Sarah doesn't show up as head of household in 1881 census for . Had you found her in the census? J.J.

Yes Sarah Jane is Josiah's daughter, she has been misindexed as Relsall.

Her mother is Mary nee Hallam

I only found them by accident when looking for Mary's father William

Her father is given as Josiah Kelsall potter - deceased.

Tis a puzzle

jane: do i see whitaker in your keeling related name?
if so, you may find a way back connection to Nether Whitacre in Warwickshire, Eng.   William Keeling held Keeling Manor there in 1500s and the Keelings have been active there since.  i have noticed many Whitakers of Warwickshire showing interest in the Keelings on various geleological forums.   William was backed by Elizabeth1 and James1 on his various adventures discovering various East Indies islands for the East India Co and the Crown.  Keeling Island is named after him.  (more on him if anyone is interested).

That is very interesting.
Trouble is my Whittakers & Keelings were humble potters.

The Keelings I have traced back to Colwich in Staffordshire Whittakers in Longton Staffordfshire.

I photographed Isaac Whittakers grave stone at Longton yesterday!!

Jane,
The Automated Genealogy transcription of the 1911 Canadian census is only about 60% complete. At present there is no Kelsalls in Ontario over 30 years of age & only 1, a nurse named Clara, in Toronto listed. You can search the entire census at Library & Archives Canada but it would be a long task.
It's great to have people doing this work but they quite often get things wrong. Like my family's home town of Thamesville is listed as Thomasville.
I advise all researchers of the Canadian census to be cautious & buzzed with a lot of coffee.
Good Hunting.
