Got my first batch Yesterday.

Totally useless as we have all been in contact before -first contact was over 18 months ago-.
Great for more wide spread names but open to many hits that are of no use.All my Liscoe names on the site know of each other and we are all related .I cant wait to see what it throws up for my Green family.

I finally summoned up the will power to sort through my 9 pages of "Hot Matches" at GR this evening (I don't know how long they've been sat there waiting for me ::)) BUT .......

after clearing out all of the ones I'm already in contact with and the ones that are so unlikely they're not worth the effort I was left with a handful of "possibles".  After reading through the ones that were left amazingly I found a first cousin that I haven't seen since I was about 8!! We've exchanged numerous emails this evening and it's great and we haven't got round to discussing family history yet  ;D

How can I get a living person of GR Hot Matches
« Reply #21 on: Saturday 22 October 05 02:52 BST (UK) »
Althought I am not a member of Genes Reuntied, and have never subscripted to it,today I received an email from them to say I have a list of possible Hot Matches to some names I had inquired about, nothing usually about that but this morning imagine how surprised I was to find a match to my 8 year old daughter,it had been submitted by a relative of hers without my permission. I have already emailed this person to ask them to remove the name, but am now wondering if I should contact GeneReuntied myself to have the name removed. Have others had similar experiences.

Your quarrel is really with your relative rather than with GR.  All their "hot matches" business is done automatically, and getting a personal response from them is very difficult.  However, I would certainly try.  Persist with your relative, who can easily remove your daughter from their tree, and persist with GR - keep nagging.
Godden in East Sussex, mainly Hastings area.
Richards in Lea, Gloucestershire, then London.
Williamson in Leith, Vickers in Nottingham.
Webb in Bildeston and Colchester.
Wesbroom in Kirby le Soken.
Ellington in Harwich.
Park, Palmer, Segar and Peartree in Kersey.

I agree with Suttontrust,  if your relative will not remove your daughters name keep on at GR, they can and will remove details but as others have found in the past it does require some nagging on your part.

Checked today and mine have finally been updated. Has found another positive match, I'm waiting for an answer to the message that I sent. Sure beats trawling through al the names like before even if it is a bit slow.

Hi suttontrust and suey

Thanks for your comments, yes I agree my quarrel is with my daughters relative, she has said she will remove the name will check if she has if not, the nagging begins.

I too had a surprise today when I checked my hot matches and found myself come up as one of them!  Obviously someone must have copied my tree.

I am not particularly concerned about myself but jericho I think I would be concerned about a child being on there.

Good luck with getting your daughter's name off.
