Burial Lookup - Kings Sutton - KERBY
« on: Wednesday 28 September 11 22:59 BST (UK) »
Hello,

I am trying to find details of my grandfather Richard Kerby who as far as i know was born & died in Kings Sutton. I have been to the graveyard today but couldn't find his grave. I live on the Isle of Wight so sadly can't keeping going back to keep looking.

All the details i have on him are as follows...

Name: Richard Kerby
Married to: Lydia Kerby (Possibly linda Kerby)
Children: Charles, Alice, Joan, Jack, Marg & Billy (possibly short for William) They may of also had another child called Alan.

If i remember correctly they used to live near to the church, near a big green.

If anyone can help or has any information please let me know.

Thanks in advance.

Hi and welcome to Rootschat.  :)

I wondered if it might be possible to have a date to work from.

Hi, welcome to Rootschat

What dates are we looking at?

There could be several reasons you can't find the grave. Are you sure that he was buried and not cremated? If he is there, there may not have been a headstone erected. If you are certain that he was buried in the churchyard the best thing to do is contact the church and see if they have the grave position.

Hi again M.Jacobson (& Jan).

I have all the graves for the Churchyard which are mostly illegible
as I am sure you found out.

There are hardly any Churchyard plans for Churches in Northamptonshire
and certainly not for K.Sutton.

There is also a Non-Conformist burial ground across the green, are you
aware if there were any in the family.

Also a Cemetery on the hill outside the village.

I can see no link to them at the moment, so as I mentioned previously
a date to work from presuming they are all dead would help us to
help you.  :)

Hi

Because of King Suttons, Northamptonshire proximity to Banbury, Oxfordshire it may be worth having a look in the records for Banbury?
Having been to a couple of  funerals of people from King Sutton  I know some of the folks from K Sutton were buried in the cemetery on the Southam Road, Banbury.

Might be an idea?

Okay I think we have something to go on now.

Richard George Kerby married Lydia Frost in 1903

He died aged 80 in 1955, I can not find a death for Lydia for certain yet.
