In a packet my daughter bought at an auction and then gave to me as a gift, there are two old photos. I'm not sure if they are connected to the rest of the stuff in the packet or not, and would like to know a time frame into which they fit if possible please. The story of the other things found in the packet is here.....

There is nothing on the backs of the photos except handwritten in pencil on the football one is "Springton Football Club" and $14.00, suggesting to me that it may not have been connected to the other things in the packet.

I've had a great time with the bits and pieces and tracing some of the history of the family.

Is that a date on the football? My eyesight isn't good enough to read it. I think I can make out 19??

I scanned it at 600 megapixels and that's the highest my old scanner will do it at, I'm afraid.

My new printer will scan, but I can't work out how to do it.   

Any of those dates for the football one would mean it wasn't originally a  part of the packet, as the family only moved to South Australia in the 1920s.

Springton was a tiny South Australian country township back then and it would definitely have been Aussie Rules football.

The 1908 - 1912 one looks like a school or college photograph to me. That means that neither photo fits with either of the two men mentioned in the packet of documents etc. The father was in the army by 1906 and the son wasn't born until during WW1.

I'm suspecting that the Auctioneers just bundled the photos in with the documents. There was one other oddment in the packet, a Trade School Engineering Drawing book of notes with a totally different name on it.
