Many thanks Stan,

Mary Lizzie had a son Stanley Maltby on 24 June 1908, on his birth certificate she lists her name as Mary Lizzie Maltby and 14 years later has the certificate officially corrected to show that her name should have been Chapman otherwise Maltby and the father is not named.

On the back of this birth certificate and marriage certificate of Mary and George Moore  are comments about a declaration made by a commissioner and they are labelled A and B.
Do you think there could be another document, maybe an adoption?  If so do you know how to get copies?

I'm looking for help with a possible divorce or desertion!

Mary Lizzie Maltby, my gt grandmother's first marriage was to William Chapman.  They were married on 3 Aug 1903, she was 17 and living in North Row, Pelton Fell, Chester-le-Street, he was 22 and according to the certificate living in Newfield, Chester-le-Street, his father is listed as a deceased farmer, Alexander Chapman.
This is the only information I have on him, I can't find anything. Mary was pregnant at the time of her marriage with son Theophilus Chapman
I know that Mary re-married George Randall Moore on 14 Apr 1913.
She has another two sons before her 2nd marriage Stanley Maltby/Moore and Nicholas Moore.  She is listed as a widow on her 2nd marriage certificate but I cannot find any record of William Chapman's death.  Rumour in the family is that he ran off and left her!  Would she have to have waited 7 years to re-marry?

Any ideas on this would be appreciated  ;D

Mary Ann Ingleby - mother Ellen Thompson, father Joseph Ingleby.
Ellen then re-married Samuel Wilkinson.
So 1881c is Mary's mother and step-father.

Second marriage to James Henry Wilkinson is just a coincidence!

Just a little addition i found to confuse things

Mary Ann Cricket (nee Ingleby) married James Henry Wilkinson Sept quarter 1891 in Sunderland.  So only have to figure out the surname Cherry now.

Hi Wendy

Thanks for sticking with it!!

I'm confused too, as the marriage I have for Foster Cricket is Dec quarter 1871 to Mary Ann Ingleby, so I don't quite understand the grandchildren being with the Wilkinson family.

The Wilkinson family fit better, some of the children even being named after the grandparents.

It's really got to my this one, I'm going to have to figure it out!  The person I'm trying to help had always been led to believe her grandfather was a CHERRY, although my husband is also related via Foster's sister Margaret.

I have a puzzle in my side too, I have posted in on this side before but don't know if you were visiting this site last year, I will post it later as a separate problem and try again!

Thanks so much for your help
Anita
