I have searched through from the year 1915 to 1930...........with no joy.

Any ideas on how we can find their birth details   ???

Morning Andrea, we've been searching on Ancestry and we cant find them, in fact, im on there now again trying to see them.
To be able not to find 1 birth....ok i suppose...but 2.

Im just putting in Gillard from the year 1915, as we all have found out they can sometimes lie about their ages !!!, im even just looking at the names, in case they were born out of Devon, which i dont think is likely, but i still cant find either of them.  ???

Hi everyone

Dawn and me are trying to find the birth details of Doreen Ivy Gillard & her brother John Gillard, so we can order the certs.
The problem is that their Father married twice and we dont know which wife is the Mother of who.
We have Doreens & Johns marraige certs. Their Father John Gillard was born and died in Devon, so i would have thought the children were, as they also married in Devon.
The 2 possile Mothers are : Mary Jane MARE  &  Elizabeth HODGSON.

Going by the ages off the marraige certs...

Doreen Ivy Gillard  1925

John Gillard  1920


Any help would be gratefully received

Just to let you know that i have ordered the marraige cert for Cornelius George Lawrence & Eliza Pearce (his 2nd marraige).
Despatch date is 3rd March.

I'll let you know the outcome of his Father/No Father on this cert.  ???

Hi ya Tiffy,

I've not had the money this month to get hs 2nd marraige certificate, so none the wiser if his dad is unknown (blank on Birth Cert) or William (stated on 1st Marraige Cert).

If i get the money to order his cert i'll definately let you know, im definately going to get it, cant wait to see what it says for Father on this Cert !!!!

Stephen Hanks c1781 Gloucestershire married Sarah (unkown) born c1781 Gloucestershire.

their kids are :

Job Hanks c1819 Winson died c1888 Upper Coscombe, married Jane Newman 21/1/1816 Eastleach Turville. They married 11/10/1840.

Martha Hanks c1821 Winson.

Ann Hanks c1825 Winson.

Giles Hanks c1826 Winson.


Job & Jane Hanks children are :

John Hanks c1842 Gt Rissington

Martha Hanks c1844 Gt R/Missington ? c1844 married George Akerman born 25/2/1846 Longborough. They married 13/7/1872

Stephen Hanks c1846 Black Bourton

Mary Ann Hanks c1849 Oddington, married John Clements born c1847 Evesham.

Thomas Hanks c1851 Maugersbury, married Sarah Habbits born c1847 Condicote, they married c1869

Ellen Hanks c1853 Bibury married Richard Greenhalf born c1853 Sudely Park.

Goerge Robert Hanks 19/5/1855 Winson, married Catherine Cooper born 16/5/1856, they married 13/11/1875.

Sarah Jane Hanks c1858 Bibury, married Edwin Kilby born c1854 Turkdean, they married in c1876.


I have familes for most of the married couples named above, and then they come down to my Nan, Louisa Vera Hanks born 12/10/1919 Cheltenham and died 20/7/2000 Cheltenham.

Do you want me to list the rest of the Hanks or can you see if there is a link or not between us with the names i have given.
Its not a problem if you need more names.

Hi Sneezey, if you give me a couple of hours, got boring chores to do, i'll try and put down what details i have, as far as i can remember most of my Hanks all came from Cheltenham, Gloucestershire area.
