George "Leonard" James-Completed
« on: Wednesday 01 February 12 19:29 GMT (UK) »
I'm told that the George James who is listed as dying in the Wrexham District of Denbighshire in 1954 and whose birth is given as c 1878 had a middle name of Leonard.Despite my best efforts I am unable to find a birth for a named George Leonard James in c 1878.Can anyone look on any other available Birth Index for such a birth please?

Regards

The Leonard may have been added after his birth was registered.  I have a nephew whose birth was registered under a single christian name.

By the time he was christened - his maternal grandfather had died so he was given his grandfathers christian name as a middle name

Hi WR  :)

I assume that you have the granddaughter's parent's name and approx age/place of birth, so that you can trace the line backwards that way. I'v'e found a couple of possible marriages for a George Leonard James in  1904 - Berkshire and Warwickshire. I'm not sure if they would fit.

PS -also one West Derby 1906

Thanks,of course it makes looking for his birth that much harder!I don't know as yet where he married, this could provide a lot of clues! All I know is what I've posted herew gnu but I've asked the Grandaughter when and where her Grandparents married.

I think going back through the generations is the only way, WR.  As I think I said, I  was out by 2 years with my granny and my Dad always said he was born a year later than he was!
