Mcalpine's
« on: Tuesday 13 October 15 19:41 BST (UK) »
Hi, was wondering if anyone could help. I don't have much info and I can't seem to find any recorda. I'm searching for family history on the Mcalpines.
James Pollock Mcalpine married Mary Pickett and they had a daughter called Jamesina. That's all I know? :(

Hello

You haven't given much to go on :)

www.familysearch.org has a James Pollock McAlpine born in Glasgow, christened on 24th January 1869, son of Archibald McAlpine and Mary née Pollock.
could this be the right person?

Hi Mags

That marriage shows on www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk in 1918. For this period, you can view the actual image online yourself (inexpensive to view at £1.40 though you have to spend £7.00 to buy units to start - sounds like you might need them for other research, so not a waste).

Adding link to your other post. Given the name Jamesina (not that common really) is there a connection? www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?topic=732891.0

Mine's not the right one then, but I would say definitely an ancestor.

Hi Bev,
Thank you. This could be my great grandfather ☺ my mom doesn't know the names of his parents. She lived in Scotland untill she was 5, she never really got on with her mother so she doesn't know a lot about her family. She recently found 2 brothers she had been searching for since she was 16. :) be great if I could find some stuff for her

Mags... had written this up when your post came in so will leave as is...

The marriage cert will be available for you to view online on www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk for then. Scottish certs are always so amazingly informative really.

That marriage cert will help you work back further.

Not sure where you are really on verifying it all.

Your mum born in 1958

Your maternal grandmother born 1928

Possible maternal grandparents married 1918

We can work from there really on the maternal side.

Not sure what info might be included on your mum's birth cert or marriage? Does she have any reputed details on her father at all? You mentioned Thomas Peter Edgar earlier...

My mom has no idea about her father. Just his name :( he died from TB when she was younger. I told her there wasn't much information to go on. Haha x
