Liverpool assizes *( not Kirkdale) 1907 or Walton gaol records

Would anyone be able to find Kirkdale petty sessions
Or quarter sessions

For crimes
Of Lottie Roberts aka Lottie Bourne above 21-26 8 calender months with hard labour

And Herbert Smith aka leo Selwyn age 21 15 months

According to newspapers they were given jail sentences for unlawfully obtaining money and conspiracy to defraud at Liverpool 16th April  pleaded guilty  at Liverpool court

There was another case of larceny crime committed on 11 the Dec 1907 but i think they would already have been in jail for the more serious crime

as the warrant was on June 1st and they were in custody on remand 20th may

That charge (concerning the theft of 4,000 feet of cinematograph film) is mentioned in news reports in June 1907 so the date on the official record must be incorrect.

Yes it didn't seem to tally

But presume it was the right people because  Herbert's stage name  was a Leo Selwyn was a conjuror escapologist

Might have beleiver he had rights to any films of him ....That case was dropped

But I'd like to know if they did serve their time and if they got back together again after ..I know that some prisons gave addresses that prisoners were going to on release

Their baby remained with her adoptive family Mrs Ball  who seems to have  been a witness for defence even bringing baby Jessie to the court to prove she was a well cared for child .

Thanks blue i was given the idea of Kirkdale assises so assumed that's where Liverpool trials were held so i should ask for title of post to be changed

The link you gave says any accreditted reader can access i may try phoning them just to see if those records are available

I would think you could view by appointment in the Search Room. Be sure to mention Liverpool Assizes, quote the reference and the year.

I live in leicester so it would be a day trip

I don't know the reference i would have to quote ..Sorry not good with computer searches...Or is there a way of finding it on that site ?? I may need talking thru step by step

There was another time anomoly with the case

They were in custody 20 the may 1907
But warrant was issued in June 21st

I think my mother made a list of all the ' facts from newspapers

So i could summarise and put on the topic I've not got it to hand so will have to reread
