This mystery is played out in Stoke on Trent and Canada...
After finding out where my Grandfather was buried,I was suprised to find he wasn't the first occupant in the grave (He'd died in 1925)that dubious honour went to Caroline Carson who died 1913"Huh"who's she?
Caroline was born in Cheadle in 1848 to John and Tamar Turton...on Dec' 7 1868 she Married Henry Atcherson Carson in Stoke, Henry gave his age as 24 his address Chapel street Fenton, his job a bar man in a public house, his Father's name Henry Atcherson Carson, and his occupation Gent! five day's later my Grandfather George Atcherson Carson was born...
Henry in the 1871 has him boarding with George and Sarah Turton,(Caroline's brother,) working as bar man, birthplace Canada.
Henry in the 1881...Dolphin inn hotel Hanley, working as a waiter ..birthplace Montreal Canada..
So where was he before 1868? who were his Parents?where did he go?did he have siblings?why Stoke on Trent?why did he leave his wife and son?
He disappears after the 1881,I have sneaking feeling he went to British Columbia and died there in 1903, (no proof though)...
Henry 1871 ..RG 10/2872..
Henry 1881..RG 112725/132.
I wouldn't have had any census info' if it wasn't for Rootschatter's so a very big thank you to them, and a very big thank you to "Josephine"who sent me the originals when she took out a free two weeks with Ancestry..
Good luck to everyone who venture's into this enigma!!
