BIRD Family
« on: Friday 08 February 08 15:12 GMT (UK) »
It's me again. The one with the ever expanding family!
I am looking for any info on the family of Violet Williamson Bird born 1878.
She died in 1921 of a heart attack while doing the washing(I know that feeling)!

First of all I would like to apologize for misplacing her heritage in Kent. She comes from , I believe, Royston, Herts.
I am, afterall, a Canadian! Having said that I really don't have too much.
She married Arthur William Stanton in Dec 1905 and had several children, including my partner's grandmother, one
Annie Elizabeth Stanton, born 1913. It was shortly after the birth of her last child Elsie L Stanton in 1921 that she
suffered her unfortunate fate. Elsie was put in the care of another relative and sadly the family lost touch with this child. They are still hoping to get in contact with her if that is possible.
Hope that helps.
Scott

Hi Scott

Looking on the censuses I can't see a Violet Bird born c1878 in Herts, there is a Violet W Bird born in Cockayne Hatley Bedfordshire (about 6 miles NW of Royston as the crow flies) parents John and Martha - could this be her?

It is her as her baptism is on the IGI
If you go to this site you can search the IGI by parish and will only get reliable extracted records.

If you want census details please ask and I will post.

However you can search the 1881 free at

Hi again Scott

I will post census details shortly - unless someone else beats me to it. Thought you might like to know that Violet is related to my Birds - her g grandfather John, like her father, is the brother of my ggg grandmother Mercy Carver nee Bird!

Hi Jan

Scott is my Brothers son in Law.  I too am looking for the Stantons/Bird as Violet was my grandmother.  She died when my mother was around 7 years old.  There was a baby at that time named Elsie I have been trying to find her as she was cared for by a relative but nobody seems to know where she went.
