Hi Cazzanne/Scott

Welcome to Roostchat Cazanne :D

I will post census details tomorrow - got to go to work. If you send me a PM with your email addresses I can send you what little I have on further back Birds. They are closely linked with my Carvers - a lot of intermarrying between the two families going on! Including I am 99% sure (need to double check) John Bird father of Violet marrying Martha Carver sister to my G Grandad Robert Carver. So we have a double link.

Hi Jan  Thanks for replying.  I will look forward to any info you have.  It certainly looks as if here is a positive link here.

There seemed to be lots of intermarrying in the rural areas.  I have found that with my dads family (the Kent link) and they thought we were without morals lol.

Hi Scott/Cazanne

First off the 1901 entry giving John's full name of John Henry confirms that he married Martha Carver, but she is not my gg aunt as I first thought but the daughter of James Carver and Sophia Breed. James is most likely the son of John Carver (my gggg grandfather) and his second wife Martha Mitchel though not proven as there is no baptism for James. However whoever his father is he will be related to my Wrestlingworth Carvers, so do both send me a personal message with your email address and I will send extra info on both families. Now for the censuses (I will miss out 1881 as you can search for this free).

Hi Jan

Thank you for all that information.  It does get complicated sometimes doesn't it.

I will plough through it all.
Would there be a foreign influence here as Sophia, Jabez and Maria would appear to be Spanish or thereabouts.

Hi Carol

I haven't any foreign influence, but you never know. According to my Oxford book of Names Jabez is biblical and both Maria and Sophia were popular in England from 18th century.

Hope you can make sense of these very intertwined families.

Jan ;)

One thing that is intriguing me is where the Williamson in Violet's name comes from - it would usually be a maiden-name of mother, grandmother or whatever.
