Hi

The only one that I can find (1800-1816) is

Thomas Edmonston, Edinburgh 12 Sept 1805 . Parents Thomas Edmondston and Isabella Houden  :(

I used a lot of wild cards. Can you tell us how you know the name of his mother, please. It could help.

Iam only guessing that Cecily is his mother ,the reason why is that on the
1841 census in liverpool. they have a Cecily living with the family and she was 60 and a widow.
(on that census all the ages are wrong)
on the Scottish census she is not with them, but my great grandmother Cecilia was on it she was born in France 1847
I found a death certificate for Cecilia Edmonton age 73 died in liverpool
widow to john Edmonton, and James at the death, this is in liverpool.
In my research Carlisles pops up a lot.as Thomas married Mary and she was born there, hope you can help
thanks for all your help gadget

Hi again

I'm wondering whether it might be worth putting a request on the Cumberland Board, in case he was b. Carlisle:

Sometimes people did get mixed up about the border and he could quite easily have though Carlisle was in Scotland.

you could link it to this thread. Here is the url of this current thread:

Hi, saw your post hadn't progressed so thought I'd have a try. Couldn't find Thomas' birth but I searched the IGI for Edmoundson marriages 1800 +/- 10 years and found this,

JOHN EDMONDSTONE = CECIL STEUART 10th Apr 1796 CUPAR FIFE. (Ext Entry)

It's the only entry I can see where the wife's name is Cecil/Cecily/Cecilia.

Hope this helps       Val
