1939 Registration - Part Two
« on: Saturday 20 February 10 11:49 GMT (UK) »
Hi

Aaronroots has moved the other thread to Census & resource Discussions so I thought I would start a new one. I think there is more room for further discussion on the topic.

The dates of births can be very handy. Although they aren't always accurate, especially the year. It is more likely the month and day are right at least.

Well at present there seems no prospect of general access and £42 is too much for me

I should imagine its too much for most, especially when they can't always find the data and fee is non-refundable!

I had probably one of the first free ones - I applied Nov 16 - see my report on it posted Feb 08. They only gave me names nothing else. No registration references  or dates of birth.

I have now - last week - invested(?) 42 quid looking into another address. From what I have read in these threads I should get refs and DOBs. But what I really want is the second half of 1940 information, for my first freebie search address. When I made my Feb 08 posting I hadn't really realised that all searches were confined to the original transcription booklets of Sept 1939.

My new application is the best I can do - by some thoughtful triangulation I should be able to extract some useful information.

I have opted to look for a named person and up to nine others at that address.
The person named was alive in 2006, but I think died in 2007 or 2008. Unfortunately we can not access these indexes on line any more.

The last information I had was in the 2005 Info Disk - I put this into the form to NHSIC.

Subsequently they emailed me, to say they have assigned this to their second line of support.

I suppose if I am wrong about "x" being deceased it might screw up the application. Probably they will have to contact me again.

I'll let you know further developments.

I think in many ways when they do start charging and they cannot find anything then it will be a huge waste of £42.
