So the family I found in 1901 IS the correct family.  :)

You have listed ten children but said that there were seven children? :-\ Do you mean seven survived? If so, so you know which children died?

Is there anything specific you are looking for? Do you have the family in earlier censuses?

Looking at the ages of the children in 1901 and the age of Matilda, I wonder if some of the children you do not have dates of birth for, may have been born before Alfred (ie before 1895) and may have already left home before the 1901 census hence not appearing with the family.

Right family but the names William and Alfred dont match, so two of the names I listed could be second names to two of those I listed;

Charles. married Rosie Stewardson
Harold. married Lillian Morgan
Harry. married Vera Thurston
Hector. married Vera Donovan. (my grandparents)
Ivy. married George Grout
Doris. married Fred Kingston
Beatrice. married Donald Pangbourne and John Hunt
Harmer, Kempson, Kiesler, Oakland, Payne, Crowle, Sutherland, Tulloch, Ward, Benfold, Donovan, Brooks, Smith,

I'm not sure what you mean.
In the 1901
Alfred is 6, so born 1895
William is 4, so born 1897

Are you saying that Alfred and William may have been known by a middle name, and that two of the males on your list above may be Alfred and William?

Have you looked on FreeBMD for the births of all these children? It might be difficult with the more common names but you might, for example find an Alfred Charles Ward born in Leyton in 1895, which would fit in with the 1901 census details and your theory about them using middle names.

Also, it could be worthwhile looking for the family on the pay to view 1911 census, which will give details about how many children the couple had, and may give other clues to help.

Do you have the marriage of Alfred and Matilda? IF so, when did they marry?

For starters, this looks promising:

Births Mar 1894
Ward  Alfred Charles    W. Ham  4a 267

or this:

Births
Mar 1895
Ward  Alfred Charles      W. Ham
4a 325
(West Ham covers Leyton)

I think Doris is Helena Doris b 1903 West Ham, Ivy is Matilda Ivy b West Ham 1905
And as Harry is also Henry, why not the birth in West Ham 1897 William Henry Ward?

Harold/Harry? Isn't that the same name?  ;)

There are a couple of William Henrys ...
