Or......

1871 St Pancras London
Richard Hall 30 Cabinet Maker Middx City of London
Ellen 29 Tailoress Exeter Devon
Rosina 8 Scholar Exeter Devon

1861 Bideford Devon
John Griffey 56 Gardener All born Bideford Devon
Mary 58
Ellen 18

So Ellen has Rosina out of wedlock and then marries Richard Hall? Can't find a marriage for Ellen and Richard though  :-\

Very true, could well be.

This is what I have found out so far

Rosina Griffey/Hall/King
Married: Edward Wormall King
Great Grandfathers birth 1892: name: Edward Frederick King (there are two, same name, not the same person but the same mother... mind boggling isn't it  ???) mine being the one given away. Left on the doostep of the Heley family ( Elizabeth Neville Heley) in Tottenham Court.

On his birth record she is stated as Rosina King formerly Hall but in all the census records she is down as Griffey until marrying Edward Wormall King.

In 1892 They lived at 28 Gosfield Street, Marylebone, All Souls, London.  Hope this helps

Trying to find Rosina Griffey on any censuses prior to 1901.

1901 RG13/143 Folio 59 pg 53

Rosina King nee Griffey b@ 1863 Bideford, Devon

Fathers name on marriage cert 1891 Frederick, occupation: Tailor

I have found a birth for a Rosina Griffey on Freebmd  1862, Bideford

Many thanks

Sue

Hi Sue,
Rosina Griffey is my great great grandmother, she is down as Hall in the censuses if that helps, On my grandfathers birth record it states Mother: Rosina Hall formally Griffey so I am assuming she married a Hall or changed her name Hall.

Thanks
Sarah
