Yorkshire (West Riding) / Re: Joseph Gaunt and Esther Wade or Ward of Pudsey

Thank you so much for all your time and efforts. I will carefully look at the info you have sent. I have been using the Calverley Vital Records and this is where I found the names of the maternal grandparents. Esther and Joseph did not call one of their sons Thomas. Up until finding this record I had presumed her parents were John and  Hannah Wade for they had two children John and Hannah. The interesting thing was that their first two sons were called William and Samuel. Samuel and Martha Gaunt had a son Joseph born in 1792 but that was in Morley and all census state that Joseph came from Pudsey.

All the best
Cheers Denise

Yorkshire (West Riding) / Joseph Gaunt and Esther Wade or Ward of Pudsey

I have been searching the two surnames for Esther. Her marriage certificate looks as though it is Wade. This means her parents are John and Hannah but on the Vital Records site her son's Joseph has his maternal grandparents as Thomas and Mary Ward. To add to this Esther is noted as being born in Pudsey. Esther Wade was born in Bramley Leeds.

I would appreciate any help with this matter.

Thank you vonne. I am from Thomas Nevell and Ann Gibson's son John. In August, my mother, brother and I are travelling to Scotland and Northern England to visit areas of our family history. My mother's maiden name was Groat so we are off to John O'Groat. My maiden name is Gaunt so we will visit Pudsey in Yorkshire. We will also visit York and Richmond where Thomas Readford was from. he married Elizabeth Nevell.

Unfortunately we are not going south. As my mother is 91 we felt that it would be too much this time. I do hope to do it in the future.

Happy research in Brighton. I would love to hear about you successes.

Cheers

Thank you for your added information. I will continue with my hunting. Today I found one married to a Catherine whose son was born in 1817 called Hugh Robinson Gaunt. So more research required. I will certainly take your advice and look up the Calverley Info. Thank you for letting us know that there isn't much to see in Pudsey. We are intending to find accommodation outside of york and just travelling over for the day.

Thank you so much. I had found these two birth records and was hopeful that there may be a way of determining which were his parents. Any thoughts would be gratefully accepted.

I am intending to visit Pudsey later in the year so if you have any suggestions in regard to my family search I would appreciate that. As I am travelling from Australia it may be my only opportunity.

Cheers

Thank you so much for this information.
I have used many sources to get the information including but not freereg.org. I had not heard of this source. I know their marriage date but have not viewed the original entry.
I am intending to visit Yorkshire this year. Could you inform me of the procedure to get the licence papers.
Cheers

Yorkshire (North Riding) / Thomas Redford
« on: Wednesday 06 May 15 07:31 BST (UK)  »
Thomas Redford was born about 1754. He married Ann Hopper in 1790 at St Mary's Richmond. He died in 1824. I am searching for his christening date and location. He was a stone mason and it is believed he was apprenticed to George Branson the master stone mason.
Thanking you for your time and effort.
