Ireland / Re: O'DEA/FLYNN - Tracing Irish Ancestors!
« on: Monday 28 August 06 12:11 BST (UK)  »
Good luck, Matt! Unfortunately, Flynn is one of those names that is scattered all over the country. There are multiple origins for Flynn. Perhaps it might prove more productive if you located where in Ireland your John Donovan originated and try looking for Flynns there. I know that Catherine's family may have come from another part of Ireland but it might be easier starting from what you know. Most Flynns in Munster originated in the Muskerry area of Cork. However, that isn't to say that some of them weren't from up the country. Have you any extra information from their marriage entry? Anyway, try this link, it might give you some background information that might help: http://www.goireland.com/Genealogy/scripts/Family.asp?FamilyID=132.

Isn't family history great?! No matter how far we get with our research, it never ends! Always something old to uncover, or someone new to add. Thanks for the link to genealogyprinters.com. I must try them out as the tree I'm working with will take a lot of paper too!

WOW! It turned out a fabulous present. I'd love to have a sister like you!!! Would it be asking too much for a visual on the tree in the spare room? Did you get the tree printed by professionals or was it out of your own computer?

Denis, I've made copies of the trees in the back of the book. Do you still want them?

Lizoz, do you still need 1911 info for your Kilflynn Cronins? I was at the library today and gathered some info for you.

Are you still looking for help with the 1911 census? If so, let me know as I've spent this afternoon gathering info for you.

To find that some living rellies are not as honourable as we would wish should at least stop us looking at ancestors with Rose Tinted hindsight.

Sorry about that, Gadget!   :'(::) ;) It's just that the portrait I was looking at didn't really look like the woman I had in my portrait (but then again, I'm not really good at that kind of stuff!). The portrait Amy provided really, really helped! Thanks everyone; the friendly and helpful members of rootschat are the BEST!  ;D

Amy & Prue, the crown in Isabella's portrait looks exactly like the one in the portrait I have. So, how do I find out what the medals on her sash are for? I have such difficulty finding the information I'm interested in on google! I guess I just don't know what terms to use...  ???
