Perthshire / Re: Cemetery near Doune
« on: Tuesday 14 March 23 22:18 GMT (UK)  »
Hi Skyguy:

I have not been on this site for a long time.
I was surprised to see "Cemetery near Doune" near the top.
I am also surprised at how much detail I entered on this site and how much assistance I received.
As you can see, I have Stewart ancestors and they fit into "Stewarts of Annat".
My main focus is still finding out who William Anderson is, besides my great great grandfather.

I have DNA results from Ancestry and do not know much about using these results although I have viewed many "cousins", as provided by Ancestry, and none appear to relate to my Scottish ancestors.

If you want to see if we have common ancestors I am fine to proceed.
You can reply on this forum or send me a personal message.

I look forward to hearing from you.
Dave

Hi jtyner:
It would appear we have common ancestors.
I will send you a private message.

Perthshire / Re: Some Perthshire Cemeteries
« on: Saturday 02 November 19 16:18 GMT (UK)  »
I recently found a reference from a reliable source, no longer alive, that some of my Stewart/Anderson ancestors are buried in Kilbryde Cemetery.

Janet "Stewart" Anderson, d. 1900 at Newington, Edinburgh (lived in Doune most of her life)
Her parents - John Stewart and Ann Innes are buried in this cemetery.
Janet's Daughters:
Janet "Anderson" Gray, d. 1920 At Killn, Perthshire
Ann "Anderson" McLaren, d. 1923 at Newington, Edinburgh
The reference is M.I.'s SO Perth p.193 #41

Does any one have access to this M.I. reference?

Thanks to Buckhyne and Bruce for previously trying to solve the where abouts of Janet Anderson and husband William Anderson.

Maybe the above reference will help.

Hi John:

I noticed a posting from some time ago relating to James Anderson, mason in 1851.

My ancestor William Anderson was born in Doune in 1846.

I have very little information on his father William Anderson.
I have tried to connect James Anderson to my family without success.

If you can provide me with information on James Anderson's parents and family I would appreciate the assistance.

Thanks,
Dave Anderson

Hi:

I just came across the posts relating to Anderson-Gillon.

Does William Anderson born about 1814 and married to Janet Stewart, show up in any of your family information?

Hoping some of you still connect with this site.

Hi Ross:

Thanks for your reply.

I read thru the posts on this topic and my first thought is the families discussed do not seem to directly fit my relatives.

John Lawrence married Martha Farrar in Ireland, 05 December 1826.
John Lawrence was born 1785.
Martha Farrar was born 25 March 1800

They moved to Canada in 1848.

Do you think Martha Farrar fits with the Farrar's discussed in these postings?

Any comments on the content of my first posting?

Your interest is appreciated.

Hi ev:

Thanks for your information.

The will information confirms Andrew Anderson is William's brother.
No additional information appears pertinent to my search.

To clarify my search - I am trying to find information for William Anderson born about 1813 and died before the 1851 census. In 1841 he was living in Doune and his family continued to live in Doune after his death.

Would you agree that probably the only way I can confidently locate my William is to find a grave marker connecting him to Janet Stewart?

Persons on this site have advised William is not buried in cemeteries at Doune.

Janet (Stewart) Anderson died in Edinburgh in 1900
I am advised she is probably buried in Edinburgh and I do not find a record to date.

My thinking is she would likely be buried where her husband is buried.
Your thoughts on how I might find William Anderson and Janet Stewart's resting place would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Dave

Hi Annie:

We have corresponded before and I believe I said you got me thinking different to what I was pursuing.

I am still looking for ancestors of my William Stewart Anderson born in Doune, 24 March 1846.

There is a William Stewart Anderson b. 29 March 1846 at Greenock, son of Andrew Anderson and Helen Campbell. I am looking for a connection with my William.

Since posting the first request, I have a possible connection:

William Stuart Anderson b. 10 June 1787 at Greenock has a brother Andrew who may be the above Andrew. Parents are Andrew Anderson and Janet Anderson.

I can not find any additional information on William Stuart Anderson b. 1787 and I can not find further info on the William Stewart Anderson buried at Greenock.

Talk to you later.
Thanks,
Dave
