As an example after a quick search, the oldest William (none had middle names) Anderson in Greenock RD in 1841 was 65 yrs...

Others in the household were;
Janet 65
George 25
Margaret 20

He seems to have vanished come 1851 although this isn't to say it's the same person but without knowing anything more than a name it's difficult to speculate anything.

It may be an idea to give us info. on potentials you're looking for rather than looking at unknowns?

Hi Annie:

We have corresponded before and I believe I said you got me thinking different to what I was pursuing.

I am still looking for ancestors of my William Stewart Anderson born in Doune, 24 March 1846.

There is a William Stewart Anderson b. 29 March 1846 at Greenock, son of Andrew Anderson and Helen Campbell. I am looking for a connection with my William.

Since posting the first request, I have a possible connection:

William Stuart Anderson b. 10 June 1787 at Greenock has a brother Andrew who may be the above Andrew. Parents are Andrew Anderson and Janet Anderson.

I can not find any additional information on William Stuart Anderson b. 1787 and I can not find further info on the William Stewart Anderson buried at Greenock.

Talk to you later.
Thanks,
Dave

Hi ev:

Thanks for your information.

The will information confirms Andrew Anderson is William's brother.
No additional information appears pertinent to my search.

To clarify my search - I am trying to find information for William Anderson born about 1813 and died before the 1851 census. In 1841 he was living in Doune and his family continued to live in Doune after his death.

Would you agree that probably the only way I can confidently locate my William is to find a grave marker connecting him to Janet Stewart?

Persons on this site have advised William is not buried in cemeteries at Doune.

Janet (Stewart) Anderson died in Edinburgh in 1900
I am advised she is probably buried in Edinburgh and I do not find a record to date.

My thinking is she would likely be buried where her husband is buried.
Your thoughts on how I might find William Anderson and Janet Stewart's resting place would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Dave
