Aberdeenshire / Re: Strathdon church photographs

Hello,
I recently visited Strathdon Parish Church and graveyard, where some of my Forbes ancestors are buried, but unfortunately the church itself was locked up and there was no one about to ask about access :( I believe that the interior is quite impressive, and that there are a number of plaques on the walls relating to members of the Forbes family. Is there any member who lives in or near Strathdon who could possibly visit the church when it's open and take photographs of the plaques for me please?  Sadly I'm now back home in Australia, and am not sure when I'll get back there again! Cheers,
Jo

We should never give up when researching I have learnt yet again!!

Myrna:
My interest in the Brunton name is that I am helping my cousin Barry Brunton find his roots.  Have got back to Robert Brunton & Ann Tough who left Scotland & went to NZ. Barry comes through their son John.  There are heaps of Bruntons from Robert & Ann in NZ. Just can't find anymore about Robert. Are you able to throw any light on them. Love to hear from you.

eimaj:
Am not searching Notman family. Only Robert Brunton who married Ann Tough from Scotland. Sorry can't help.

ajjbc:
re: your post 2 May 2010 Janet Notman or Brunton.  Have to confess, can't find where I saw the death date of 1855.  If it comes to light again will let you know. Sorry.

To ajjbc,

Hope you are checking through here, noticed your interest in Brunton/Notman.  Came across this the other day (while searching for my lot) maybe of use to you then of course you may already have all of it.

William Brunton born c1798 died pre 1851, married Janet Notman 1821 in Peebles, she died 1855.

They had 2 children in Peebles then moved to Colinton. Then to St Cuthberts where children 4,5,6, & 7 were born bteween 1825 & 1832.  Don't know what happened to child 3!!!

Thanks Elaine for all that info. will sift through it all & see what I come up with.  Appreciate your help. The reason you didn't find them on the 1851 census was that they were in Australia in 1850 & then on to NZ.

Thanks,
Noeleen.

[Saw your message on this site & am interested in the Robert Brunton married  Ann Tough & 5 children you mentioned you have on file. They went to Australia with 3 of the children then to NZ. Descended from John the youngest of those 3 children.  Am trying to find out more of their ancestors in Musselburg Scotland. Love to hear from you.
