Many thanks for the information you have found. When you say "There is only one marriage in Wales for the 1931 birth - 1954 Monmouthshire" it would appear that the Tidman route in Radnorshire, that had a family name of Davies, is a red herring and the Tidman's of Newport is a better bet to follow up?

Carol

could not find them in 1921

Two names redacted so maybe Stanley?

There are no Tidman/Davis/Davies births from 1920

We have a photo of Stanley and is says a cousin on my wife’s mother, that is all we have

Do not have a marriage certificate

I posted in two boards as some family members were born/living in Breconshire and some in Radnorshire, they lived on the border of both counties. My apologies if I have broken the rules.

I have hit a “brick wall” with my search for Ethel Mary Davies born 17 Feb 1900 in Builth Wells.

I have found a 1920 marriage in Builth to a Cecil P Tidman born 12 May 1896 in Rhayder for a Ethel M Davies.

I am hoping these are the parents of a Stanley Tidman who would have been born around 1928-1933. I have not found a record for him but have a family photo when he was around the age of 2.

If Ethel M Davies is the mother of Stanley I would like to find her parents and siblings on the 1901 census and again along with Stanley on the 1939 register, but I cannot find them.

This then can confirm I have the correct Davies family before sending for certificates.

Hi Lizzie

Thanks for your message. I have got no further since my post on Samuel Adams beyond the information in your post. When he left the army in Portsmouth he moved to Penarth Vale of Glamorgan by Cardiff. It was here in the local cement works where he fell to his death.

The problem with finding any further information like a birth certificate etc is I suspect Samuel
Adams was nor the name he was born with.

Anything you can find would be fantastic as this brick wall does not want to come down

Thanks again for taking an interest

Have you tried contacting the Welsh Regiment Museum in Brecon who may hold the records you are looking for or if not will be able to advise you.

Many thanks for your quick reply to my query and the information you provided. I see the road is now called Paget Road so maybe they re-named it after the docks closed down.
