Hi Gadget
Many thanks for your reply.
I have enquired on birth registrations for Thomas in Morpeth 1842 and 1844, the father was not Robert nor the mother Margaret.
My apologies I should have mentioned in this post that this subject was posted at the end of last year as a brick wall and I received information from many kind listers.
http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,273409.0.htmlHowever, I am still stuck - I really cannot get a lead in any direction.
Since the posting of last year I have based my search on the fact that Robert married Mary Chapman in Newburn.
There is a death for Mary Scott of New Winning 13 June 1842 age 36 in the Family Search Bishops Transcripts which fits.
I have been searching for a second marrige for Robert based on the fact he was listed as widower.
The only relevant one so far is that of Robert to Margaret Robinson at Easington - maybe this was his second marriage - although the area does not fit.
(found this on Durham Records Online).
I would welcome advice as I feel that I am on the wrong track!
Cheers
Dorothy
