I am hoping someone can help me with the marriage details of

BAKER, John Parsons and WILLIAMS, Elizabeth Rachel Goodwin both of Stoke Damerel in about 1831.  Fathers were Thomas Baker and Horatio Williams.

I cant find the marriage on IGI or on Hugh Wallis OPC site.  Any other suggestions?

Thanks
Christine

Channel Islands Resources & Offers / Re: Help from Guernsey

Thats wonderful, thank you so much.  I had thought that info was outside my reach, unless I made the trip to Guernsey, and as tempting that is, I dont think funds will stretch to it at the moment.  If you can dig anything at all up about the family I greatly appreciate it.

Thanks again
Christine ;D

Hi Allan_Jean

Thank you for offering to look up the archive.  I am longing to find out more about my g.g.g.grandfather Octavius Toulmin PITTER b. around 1800-1808 in St Peter Port.    His parents were Thomas Pitter and Catherine Toulmin.  I would really appreciate any baptism info you can find.

I have found various children on IGI born to Thomas and Catherine bapt in Westminster London between 1789 and 1797 and am intriged as to why the family moved to Guernsey.  Catherine died in Jersey, as did Octavius, but I would love to know a burial date for Thomas Pitter and if it was in Guernsey.

Thanks :)

Thank you all for replying and the suggestions.  Apologies for not staying on line or replying sooner.

Her marriage and death certs state Elizabeth Martha Barber, so I assumed she was registered as this.  The 1881 census for her family lists her siblings as being born in Bermondsey so I was wondering if she was actually born there too.  The birth in Q1 1872 St Savours Southwark (mentioned by Galium)  I think may cover Bermondsey area ???  The marriage of Henry charles  also in Southwark may fit.  So think I will take a chance and order both of these.  Have checked her siblings and there are entries in St Saviours for Alfred Henry and Thomas Edward - Martha St Olaves Southwark, so all around the same area.

Did I read it right - 1871 census Martha's husband insane???

I will follow up on Eliz Talbot as that sounds interesting.  Are the Thetford records on line by chance?

I have only been researching for a few months and am completely addicted.  Finding the London ancestors a bit tricky though, but have gone back to mid 1600 in Kent on one line (havent doubled checked all parish records yet though).

Thanks again

???  I am very confused about the London/Middx parishes.  Can anyone please help.  I am trying to find my g. grandmother's birth index.  She was born in 1871 and in the 1881 census it states b in St Georges Middx.  Would that be St George in the East? Which registration district would that have been? I have found one index in the name of Elizabeth Martha Barber registered Holborn in 1876 and another in 1877 in Poplar.  Her father was Henry b. 1853 Stepney and mother Elizabeth(?).  What can I do except order all the b. certs in the name of Elizabeth Martha Barber??  Please help
