Hi everyone,
Thank you so much for all this research and Heywood you seemed to totally solved it for us.
It's a bit of a story but it seems Benjamin did a lot of tooing and froing between the ladies !!
I can re build the family tree now I have the correct Benjamin.
Thank you so much for all your time spent.
Helen.

The Common Room / Stuck with Benjamin Brooker !!
« on: Sunday 05 May 24 09:15 BST (UK)  »
Hi Rootschatters,

Earlier this week I obtained a marriage certificate in the the hope it would help me progress backwards on this family tree line research for a friend.

It hasn't or maybe I am missing something !!

The details are as follows :-

The marriage took place at the parish chursch of St Anne's, South Lambeth, London on 1st September 1929.

Benjamin George Patrick Brooker aged 21 batchelor occupation engineer residence at time of marriage 43, Bond St, Vauxhall. Father Charles Brooker, occupation...plasterer.
TO
Angelina Elizabeth Hamilton aged 18 spinster , domestic duties...residence at the time of marriage 43, Bond Street, Vauxhall. Father Thomas Hamilton.

Witnesses to marriage Mary or May Matilda Larkin and Thomas Hamilton.

I cannot seem to find a birth registration for Benjamin or him living with his father on 1911 or unless I have missed Charles and Benjamin on 1921 census together or living apart.

Ancestry has two listings on trees for Benjamin and Angelina but seems I have more information from certificate that is on the two minimal family trees.

I would like to find Benjamin's mothers maiden name so I can tie in a marriage with Charles if possible.

At the moment I have all I need on the Hamiltons.

Can anyone help research something I may have missed.

Any research help greatly appreciated.

Helen.

The Common Room / Suzanne C Jeannot /Teann 1939 Register
« on: Sunday 07 April 24 11:25 BST (UK)  »
Hello,
Suzanne C Jeannot born 5/7/1915 was listed as a border living with Elizabeth A Higgs a distant cousin of mine and her husband in Surrey.
Suzanne's occupation was listed as a stenographer/foreign correspondant although Ancestry has her transcribed as Suzanne C Teann.
Over the years I have always wondered and researched where she originated from and what happened to her with no joy.
Would anyone be able to find out any other information on this lady.
Many thanks in advance.
Helen.

Hi,
Is it worth a visit to the location of the street of last known address, I realise it's not local to your location but may pay dividends in the end search.
A long shot but someone on the street may remember the occupants of the house.
Even a snippet of information may open up the search.
That's what I would do .
Good luck let us know the outcome.

« on: Sunday 04 February 24 10:45 GMT (UK)  »
Hi Martin,
I just read your post and kind offer of look ups for the Battle Of Waterloo.
Would it be possible to look up the surname RODWAY, originating from Woodchester, Nr Stroud.
Also, if you have time the surname BINGHAM, all living in Stroud, Gloucestershire.
Thank you so much in advance .I really appreciate it.
Feel free to PM me if you find anything.
Helen.

The Common Room / Admiralty Staff Records
« on: Wednesday 24 January 24 19:05 GMT (UK)  »
Hello,
My great-aunt Marjorie was employed by the admiralty as a civil servant during the war and into at least the early 1960's.
I would love to research more into this or are all staff records closed.
Would anyone be able to offer any advice as to where to start as it is a new area of research for me.
Any help greatly appreciated.
Helen.

Hi Biggles50,
What would you say 400-450 centimorgan DNA match would possibly be ?
I do use DNA painter when I have new matches but would value your opinion.
Could it be a half first cousin ?
Many thanks in advance.
