Denbighshire / Llay Smithy. Old photo
« on: Sunday 11 November 12 18:15 GMT (UK)  »
Some years ago I saw an old B and W photo of the Smithy at Llay. The one where the Tilston family were blacksmiths.

I failed to get a copy or have lost it and am hoping that someone can help please.

My interest is that Thomas Tilston married my great aunt Eliza Parry in 1857 at St. Mary's Chester and they later lived at Llay smithy.

Any suggestions would be much apprieciated. Thanks Humphpaul

Technical Help / Daily Mail FindMyPast family tree offer
« on: Tuesday 09 October 12 11:57 BST (UK)  »
I have registered my first ten passwords from the papers and had a code back to get the download but now I can't get back in to the site as it will not accept my log-in password. So I click the get a new password box and enter the code and should get an email with a new personal password. But no email comes through and there is no contact available to help me.
Has anyone any suggestions to sort this out. I have tried a few times over the last week. Thank you Humphpaul

Lancashire / Frank JONES was on Huyton Council about 1965
« on: Thursday 23 August 12 18:31 BST (UK)  »
I think I met the above at my auntie Jin's flat in Wingate Towers around 1965. She was Jane Elizabeth Jones born 1891 and she lived in New Rd., Tuebrook before going to Huyton.

When she was killed on the road in 1974 there was an obit. put in the Echo on Mon. 2/09/1974 by her brother 'Chappie' Jones with a contact phone number on the Wirral.

If anyone can tell me what his actual name was and any other info it would help my family history. I have a lot of this Jones tree but want to fill in some bits.

Ginnie was a cousin of my father Alfred Henry Williams. Thanks Humphpaul

Cumberland / 1795 Joseph Sim,dyer sold Thing? St. Maryport
« on: Thursday 26 January 12 10:49 GMT (UK)  »
I have a mortgage indemnity document 0f 11/11/1795 were the above Sim of Cockermouth sells a house to my ancestors.
It is all legible but the address seems to be Thing Street in Maryport. Can anyone suggest what it could be as I have never heard of it.
Another possibility is 7, King St but that would make the '7' exactly like other capital 'Ts' in the script and then it would have King with a small k.
The doc. is signed by Coultard Sim, Susanna Sim and James Clarke and the indemnifiers are Thomas Baylis, mariner and John Ritson, whitesmith who is Thomas's father in law.
In Pigots 1829 Joseph Sim is a dyer in Main St. Cockermouth.
Has anyone with the Sim ancestry any info. about them being in Maryport.
Any suggestions would be most welcome, thank you Humphpaul

Pembrokeshire / Bond 1852 Stephen Mattias and Dorothy of Fishguard
« on: Sunday 11 December 11 12:20 GMT (UK)  »
Due to a clerical error I have copies of admin papers of a bond etc for the above dated 17/06/1852.

They are from Aberystwyth and are code 188/52. There are 9 sheets about 18 inches by 12 in a tube.

They have no connection to me and I want to pass them on to someone interested rather than shred them. I will post them free. Humphpaul

Merionethshire / Humphrey Jones born 1824 Barmouth, grocer
« on: Saturday 03 December 11 15:22 GMT (UK)  »
In July 1881 when my g.g.gran Mary Humphreys died in Barmouth the person present at death was her nephew Humphrey Jones.
In 1881 census he is a grocer and confectioner at 1, Aber Place, Church St. Barmouth.
Also in 1881 Mary Humphreys widow age 80 is living at LLechigleison next to two Jones families at Brynygraig and Graigfach on the rock.
This leads me to think that Mary's nee name may be Jones also.
I have not been able to find her marriage to my g.g.grandad William Humphreys baptised 9/10/1803 at Llanaber although both their children seem to be legitimate when baptised in LLanaber and she is on her gravestone as his widow and also on the death cert.

So my query is can anyone tell me if a Mary Jones was born about 1800 and christened in a non-con. chapel and later married there. Does anyone know if Humphrey the grocer was an early non-conformist.
I have read somewhere that a lot of mariners like my g.g.grandad were non.con. and one of the chapels was supported by a shopkeeper around the 1830s.

Any suggestions would be very welcome. Thanks Humphpaul
