The Common Room / What do these initials stand for??

Hi All,

This is taken from an obit following the death of my husband's uncle in WWII -

...was with the British Colonial Service, Singapore in that year as Meteorological Officer. (He was previously awarded the F.R.M.S. whilst at Biggin Hill)...

Does anyone know what the initials stand for??

Hi,

I have a couple of pics. which really need a bit of help!

The first is a picture taken from my late mother in laws album, no-one knows who it is - mainly because till now we haven't been able to see it, it was a tiny photo of a photo. I englarged it enough to see it, but it's not very clear. Can anyone sharpen it for me??

Apologies, apologies, apologies, but I am really showing my ignorance now.

I have been given a copy of the attached card which I 'think' is written in Welsh. If I'm right, can anyone translate it for me please? If I'm wrong, I really do apologise to all Welsh speaking listers.

I've just received copies of Margam Parish Registers for a marriage and four baptisms, but they don't say which church/chapel the events took place in, is there any way I can find out?

Occupation Interests / Tin Works

Hi,

A lot of my husband's ancestors worked at the tin works in Carmarthen. We have plate layers, tin plate openers, cold rollers and dublers, but I haven't a clue what any of these jobs are.

Anyone have any ideas where I can find out??

Glamorganshire / locating place of burial?

Hi All,

Can anyone tell me the most likely place someone would be buried if living in Aberdare?

I am trying to locate the burials of my husband's grandparents and their daughter. I know when the daughter died in 1901 the family were living in Wordsworth St., Aberdare.

I know they were still in Wordsworth St. in 1903 but am not sure exactly where they were when the father died in 1907 or the mother in 1911, although I do know it was in Aberdare.

Anyone have any ideas?
