Yorkshire (West Riding) Lookup Requests / PEACE - Sheffield - 1841, 1851, 1861
« on: Wednesday 24 January 07 01:17 GMT (UK)  »
Hello all!

I would be grateful for a lookup in the any or all of the 1841, 1851 and 1861 Census for:

George PEACE born 1795 Sheffield

He is the son of Samuel (dec 1833) and Ann (dec 1835) and a sibling between John and Charles, and according to information I have found, he died 1862 in Sheffield.

I believe this George is probably the father of my Charles PEACE b 1822,who on his marriage lines, stated his father was a George PEACE, file cutter,

I am also looking for my Charles PEACE in 1841 and 1851.
I do already have him on the 1861 and 1871 with his wife Ruth and children. In those Censii in Ecclesall Bierlow, Nether Hallam it indicates Charles was born around 1822 in Sheffield (one says in Crookes). He was a file cutter.  I don't yet have birth certificate baptism or mother's name for him.

Many thanks for any help!

Cheers

Pembrokeshire Lookup Requests / DUGGAN / HARRIES 1851/1861 - Lookup Please
« on: Monday 11 December 06 23:25 GMT (UK)  »
Hi all

I'm looking for 1851 Census Pembrokeshire of 2 named Sarah DUGGAN
1) b abt 1825
2) b abt 1832 (may be born in and/or living in Angle)

Would like details of the families each is with, if possible.

They may be related and one of them is probably 'mine' -  the Sarah DUGGAN who married John HARRIES in Dec Qtr 1851 Pembroke (I don't have the cert yet for her father's name etc). John HARRIES was supposedly of Tenby - if anyone could spot them married in 1861, very possibly in Tenby or nearby, it would be great.  John may have been a tailor.

John & Sarah had 5 children that I've heard  of - Margaret, John, Sarah, Benjamin & my gt-gf Joseph;  sorry no dates for any of them yet (whole cart before horse thing -  just starting on them)  though Joseph was a seaman and in the Falkland Islands in early 1892 (and probably away at sea well before that).

Any help much appreciated!

Cheers  :D

Census and Resource Discussion / Help to decipher writing US Census 1900
« on: Saturday 19 August 06 06:47 BST (UK)  »
Hi All  ;D

Can anyone make out what the relationship of Mary DOWEY or DOWER age 70 is?

She is the last one on the page, and it's blurred/darkened. I've tried lightening it, though here it is just "as I found it"  - I think her relationship to Head of house  is --------- Mother, but really unsure.......... ??? ??? Also her birth : is it Sep 1829?

REF: Census 1900, Roslyn City, Kittitas County, Washington State
Head of House indexed as John PEES  age 30 (but I think it''s REES, he's Welsh), His wife is Isabella (English).

Thanks!

Dunbartonshire / Help with dechipering Will text 1856
« on: Friday 08 July 05 01:16 BST (UK)  »
Hi there
Can anyone help me dechipher some text on an 1856 Will record?
It is signed in by John Latta, being the brother & executor of the deceased.
It says: "(signed) John Latta __ . __ . ____ at Dumbarton".  I want to know what the text is (which looks like H.C. _____)  directly after the John's name ("at Dumbarton" follows the undechipered text but is not in the image) below:

Thanks!
Anne

Buteshire / John FRAZER Cumbrae 1847 - 1881
« on: Monday 27 June 05 05:23 BST (UK)  »
Hi Listers
I have a John FRAZER who married a Jane LATTA in Nov 1847 Cumbrae, Bute.
No Record of issue on IGI.

On Census 1851, I may have found them as Domestic Servants to  House of DRUMMOND: John FRAZER  age 31 born Stevenston Ayr, Janet FRAZER age 34 born Kilbride, Ayr and a son (probably, but he is listed as a Visitor to the house) James D FRAZER age 2 born Bute. They are not enumerated as being a married couple, just both Domestics in the same house.

On Census 1881, I may have found the same John FRAZER - age now 61 at 8 Barend St Cumbray, a Portioner - age & birthplace match the man in C1851.  But his wife is (now) named Jane and she is 13 years younger, age 51 born on Bute, and with a 14 yr old son named William.  I believe this wife is Jane SHARP, and they married in 1864 with William coming along 1866 (a Robert born 1868 on IGI is not found in C81). John would have been age 50 at marriage to Jane SHARP, so it is very possible she is a 2nd wife.

The James D FRAZER age 2 in C51 is not found C81 Scotland but maybe he is the Scots born James Drummond FRAZER in Ispwich, Suffolk, a Dentist.

If the C51 Janet is John's wife, and the John in C81 is same man, then I'm imagining the C51 Janet died sometime between 1851 and 1864, probably on Bute.  It is her, ultimately whom I am interested in - was she nee LATTA?

Does anyone have any info at all? Are there any online Headstone Transcriptions for Bute for example?

Thanks  ;D

London & Middlesex Completed Lookup Requests / WADDELL - Poplar Middlesex
« on: Sunday 26 June 05 03:54 BST (UK)  »
Hi
Searching for information on a Jane WADDELL nee ??, age 30 in C81 so born abt 1851 in Glasgow,SCT. In C81 she was Head of Household, a married boarding house keeper at 6 Morant St, Poplar, London, Middlesex. Husband was not with her at census. Her 2 WADDELL children at time was an Elizabeth born abt 1876 Glasgow, and a David born abt 1879/8/0 in Poplar. Also at her house at the time was Martha LATTA age 23, Sister in law, enumerated as married, and a John LATTA age 18, unmarried enumerated as brother.

If  John was a brother of Jane, she was nee LATTA?
Which would make Martha the wife of one of Jane's  other brothers?
I can't find a Jane LATTA born ca 1850 or a John LATTA born ca 1863 in Glasgow.

Does anyone have this WADDELL family of Poplar, Middlesex in their research?

Thanks
Anne

Ayrshire / 1891 or 1901 Lookup Ayr > CHERRY LATTA
« on: Saturday 25 June 05 03:57 BST (UK)  »
Hi
I am looking for a Margaret (Maggie) Cherry LATTA on the 1891 and/or 1901 Census for Ayr, Scotland. She was born 1867. In 1897 she was enrolled  on Maybole Poor List, age 38, a widow with 2 sons & 1 daughter, and still on List as at 1905.

CHERRY was very possibly her maiden name, and if so I believe she is on 1881 Census as Maggie CHERRY age 13 at Mill Street, Ayr with parents John CHERRY & Margaret SIMPSON; and on IGI as born 1867 with mother's name incorrectly input as Mary instead of Margaret.

Am trying to find the names of her 3 children. (And her late husband's name - children's names might hold a clue).

Any help appreciated
Thanks
