« on: Sunday 04 October 20 02:38 BST (UK)  »
Hi, Please can somebody help with a couple of words I cannot figure out from a Will from 1650 ?

My best effort starting from the end of Line 3 is:
"As
"xxxxxxxxxx to my cousins [?] Xxxxxxx of my late dear mothers xxx (for I have none of my father’s, I
"give to my Cousins [?] the three living daughters of my late uncle [?] Johnson twenty shillings apiece to be ...

Handwriting Deciphering & Recognition / One word on a Cheshire Will of 1602.
« on: Saturday 08 August 20 16:14 BST (UK)  »
Hi,
Please can somebody help with a missing word from a Cheshire Will of 1602 ?
Attached is the one word I am stuck on and also the surrounding five lines for context.
My best effort so far is:
“to my executor or executors he or they to xxxxx or cause
to be paid the said sums of money to xxxxxx, to my
creditors and (?) the xxxxxxx of my goods and debts xxxx
xxxxxxxx  to my XXXXXXXXXXXX, Henrie, Ellenor, Raphe, Jane
and Anne, xxxx of xxxxxxx last will and testament”
It is the word before the list of names that I cannot read. Ordinarily I would think it was 'children' but the names do not match the person whose Will it is and the word also seems to be too long for 'children'.
Thanks in advance for any ideas, suggestions or changes.

Cheshire / Sir Peter Leycester's 17th century 'Pedigrees of Cheshire Families', 1666
« on: Saturday 08 August 20 14:09 BST (UK)  »
Hello,
I am trying to find an electronic copy of the above but just cannot seem to locate one. Lots and lots of references to it but not the book itself. Please can someone point me in the right direction ?
Thanks in advance for any help.

Hello,
I have wondered about this for a while. These words appear on one of the supporting stones in a churchyard in Cheshire. There are 4 people named on the slab on top and all are dated in the 1850s. The plot is close to the church wall but not adjacent.
I know little about burial procedures but do know that a typical grave can hold at least four people. So, why would these words be there ? By the way, it looks like there is a word of two or three letters eroded between 'STEPS' and 'AT' but I cannot make it out.
This is not crucial to my research but I am intrigued to understand it as I have never seen it before.
Thanks in advance for any ideas, suggestions, comments, etc.

Hello,
A long shot. The 'Greater London Burial Index' states an ancestor of mine, Thomas Wilcoxon (aka 'Wilcockson' and 'Wilkockson'), was buried in the 'Upper Part of the Church' on 14 Jul 1659. His Will describes him as a, "Gentleman" so I am hoping there just might be some form of memorial. I have tried to find a record of MIs or similar online but with no success. Am I just looking in the wrong place ? Does anybody know if any such record exists ?
Thank you in advance for any suggestions.

Thanks in advance.

Hi,
Can anybody help, please, with this one line from the bottom of a 1690s Will from Cheshire ? It reads, "Jurati fuere Executores supranoiati de bene XX". I think it basically means the above-named Executors were sworn. But I would like to be sure. Thanks in advance.

Hello, can anybody help me on a burial location query ?
I have an ancestor, Ralph Wilcoxon, who was buried on 5 Jan 1803. The original ledger on FindMyPast says this took place in, "GLOUCESTER: Westbury on Trym, Portland Chapel (Wesleyan): Burials". However, I can find no trace of this.
Meanwhile... the only Portland Chapel that I can find anywhere near is the Portland Methodist Chapel in Kingsdown in Bristol - which is 3 miles to the south of Westbury on Trym.
So, are/were these the same place ? Or two different ones ?  If the former, where would the burial have taken place ?
Thanks in advance for any help.

Hello, Please can anybody help with three words on the attached ? I am hoping that the word after "Wife" is her name but I cannot make it out nor the two words after. I believe the whole sentence reads, "I give it all to My well beloved Wife XXXXX XX XX towards the bringing up of My 6 children". All thoughts welcome and appreciated. ATB. Simon
