Family History Beginners Board / Tracing a family of musicians
« on: Monday 08 November 04 10:31 GMT (UK)  »
I am trying to find information on the GRECO family.
Francis GRECO & Angelina PODESTA  Married 1871 at the Parish Church in S. Woolos in the County of Monmouth.
They remained in Wales until the 1890's as I have found them in the 1881 & 1891 census.
The family (comprising of Francis, Angelina, Augustus, Ambrose, Bernard, Walter, Adeline, Bertha, Ernest & Agnes) moved to London as I have found them in the 1901 census in West Ham.
Francis died 1909 in Reading and Angelina died 1941 in Brixton both are buried in Caversham Road Cemetary Reading along with their son Walter.
Their son Ambrose came to Australia in 1908 with his wife and son, which is from where I am connected.

In all the certificates/census items I have their occupations are written as musician, harpist or in the case of Augustus, Musical Director.

Has anyone heard of this family in regards to music?

Cheers

Yorkshire (West Riding) / Stephen DeBusk & Stephen LeBusque - are they the same person?
« on: Saturday 30 October 04 00:40 BST (UK)  »
 Hi
I am trying to locate the family of my convict ancestor, Stephen LE BUSQUE his alias on conviction was Stephen COPLEY.

On his convict records it states he was a native of Sheffield.  He was tried at the Derby Assizes in 15 July 1826.  He was born circa 1803.  The closest person I have found is Stephen DE BUSK son of John DE BUSK and Mary FRANCE christened at St Peter's Cathedral, Sheffield 28 Sep 1803.
My problem is I can't confirm they are the same person.  DE BUSK name doesn't appear in the census with any regularity.

I have not been able to find a marriage or a death for Stephen DE BUSK

Has anyone got any suggestions on where I can go from here.

Cheers
