I have been trying to find information on my g.grandfather (Albert Artes) for some time. Family "legend" states that he was hospitalised in Napsbury hospital (near St. Albans) during / after WW1.
Unfortunately no service or pension record exists for him, and the medal index card gives only bare details of rank (private) and number (A/362763) in ASC.
I have found the series MH106 - Medical Records of Servicemen listed in the National Archive catalogue, however it states that the records are only a "representative selection".
Has anyone seen these records and if so what do they contain? Is it strange that no pension record is available if he was hospitalised during or shortly after the war?
