Hello!

I have located a Welsh parish register marriage entry and although I have the ghist of it, I can't quite make out the groom's name so if anyone is able to assist decipher, I'd be very grateful.

The small entry is the piece of interest - the last 6 words on the second line in particular however, the sixth word is very likely to be the Bride's first name - Jonet, Jonnett or something similar.

It appears to indicate that the groom's name is David ap ??????? ??  ?? ?????

Hi

I am hoping to discover where VICTOR REES and his wife, BRONWEN ANN REES are buried.

Victor died in 1997 and according to the Staffordshire Burial Indexes information I found on this site [http://www.bmsgh.org/burialsearch/]

The details I found indicated that a REES is buried at Newcastle Cemetery:-

Surname   Cemetery   Quarter           Year   Entry   Page   Grave
REES   Newcastle   September   1997   43042   137   25645

so am wondering if this is Victor.

These images may be viewed in the search rooms of the Staffordshire and Stoke on Trent Archive Service only and not online so if someone is able to check out the entry at the Archives and provide me with details/copy of the information, I'd be very grateful.

Hopefully, the entry may also provide details of his wife Bronwen Ann Rees who died in 2004.

Cheers

Hello

I've recently discovered that my father, PETER LEMUEL WILLIAMS, and his mother SARAH ELIZABETH WILLIAMS, were baptised at St Michael the Archangel in 1935.

My dad was 4 years old whilst his mum was an adult baptism.

I would be very grateful if SKS is able to check to see if my grandfather, WILLIAM LEMUEL WILLIAMS was also baptised in this church around that time please.

At the time involved, my grandfather 'Lem' worked for GWR and so the family were moving between Swansea and Minehead, for his work on the railways.

I understand the Alcombe Parish Records are held at the Somerset Heritage Centre.

Reference number   D\P\alc/2/1/5
Date                           1921-1970

If it were possible to provide copies of the Baptism entries, that would be the icing on the cake.

Many thanks,
Lynda

« on: Friday 26 February 16 15:25 GMT (UK)  »
I'd be grateful if someone could help translate this please as although I have tried various online options, some words just won't translate.

This is the original copy of the newspaper item which can be found here

Canlyniad Damwain.
Pan wrth ei waith fel coediwr yn nglofa Cambrian, Clydach Vale, cyfarfyddodd Mr. Isaac Griffiths, 23, Howard Terrace, o'r un lie, a damwain a brofodd yn angenol iddo, ddydd Gwener canlynol. Y mae yn debyg iddo gael ei daro yn ei frest gan fater caled, glo neu bren, nes peri idaB boen ofnadwy. O hyny allan, gwnawd pob peth oedd yn ddichonadwy i'w wella, ond methwyd, gan fod canlyn- iad y ddamwain yn gwneud hyny yn beth anmhosibl. Yr oedd yr ymadawedig yn 36 mlwydd oed, a symudiadau ei fywyd yn cael eu cymeradwyo. Dywedir ei fod yn barchus iawn o'i fam, ac yn gofalu am gynaliaetb, &c., yn anrhydeddus iddi. Bu yn aelod am rai blynyddau yn eglwys Soar (A.), Clydach Vale. Yr oedd yn perthyn i'r Rechabiaid, ac yn wir weithgar, y mae yn debyg. Hysbysir fod 80 o fechgyn, a 53 o ferched bychain, a 115 o Hersonau mewn oed, yn gwneud i fyny y gym- xleithas a enwyd. Y mae yr un mor wirion- eddol i Isaac Griffith wneud ei oreu i gael y gymdeithas i sefyllfa flodeuog. Rhoddodd amryw o r aelodau eu presenoldeb yn yr angladd, ac yn cael eu blaenori gan Mr. Theophilus Rees, sef un o weithwyr selog achosion da yn Nghlydach Vale. Trodd Cyf- rinfa yr Odyddion allan yn lluosog ar yr achlysur. Gwelsom y cynhebrwng, ac yn ddiddadl yr oedd tua mil o bobl yn bresenol. Gwasanaethwyd ar yr achlysur gan y Parchn. W. Williams a W. Davies. Buasai yn briodol crybwyll fod Cymdeithas y Rechabiaid yn y lie hwn o dan ddylanwad eglwysi Soar (A.), a Calfaria (B.), ac fod yr undeb prydferth yma yn cael ei werthfawrogi. Daearwyd yr hyn oedd farwol o Isaac Griffiths yn Nghladdfa Gyhoeddns Trealaw, ddydd Mawrth, y laf cyfisol.

This is how it translated:

Conclusion Accident
When in his work as coediwr in Cambrian Colliery, Clydach Vale, cyfarfyddodd Mr. Isaac Griffiths, 23, Howard Terrace, of the same lie, which proved an accident angenol him, Friday following. It is like he was hit in his chest by the hard issue, coal or timber, until a cause terrible pain idaB. From gwnawd all the way out, it was feasible to improve it, but failed, as follows-tment of the accident makes ticket is anmhosibl.  The deceased was 36 years old, and the movements of his life being approved. It is said that he was very respectful of his mother, and caring for gynaliaetb, & c., honourably. He has been a member for some blynyddau in the Church of Soar (a.), Clydach Vale. I belonged to the Rechabiaid, and indeed active, it is similar. Notice is hereby given that 80 of boys, and 53 women, and 115 of small Hersonau in old age, make up the gym-named xleithas.  It is equally absurd-stage to Isaac Griffith made her oreu to get the Association to florid situation. Several members gave their attendance at the funeral, and prioritisation by Mr. Theophilus Rees, one of the hardworking workers good causes in Clydach Vale. He turned the rinfa-Odyddion Ref out multiple on the occasion. We saw a funeral, and undoubtedly there were about a thousand people in attendance. Served on the occasion by the Parchn. W. Williams and w. Davies.  It would be appropriate to mention that the Rechabiaid in the Society where churches under the influence of this Soar (a.), and Calfaria (b.), and that the beautiful Union here is appreciated. Daearwyd what was mortal of Isaac Griffiths Nghladdfa Gyhoeddns Trealaw, on Tuesday, the laf cyfisol.

The full meaning of the newspaper item eludes me and I'd be grateful for any assistance to help me understand what was reported.

Hi everyone

If there is SKS around Clarbeston Road area who might be able to visit the Graveyard attached to this Chapel please, I'm hoping to find my ggg-granfather Lemuel Williams there - died 1924 and had been a long time member of the congregation.

I'm also hoping his wife Anne might be there too - she passed in 1896.

I don't have any plot information sorry but from what I can tell, the graveyard is not that large and so it may not be quite the 'needle in the haystack'  :-)

It's now known as Wiston Presbyterian Church of Wales and is on the C3011.

Grateful for any assistance.

Cheers

Hello the specialists :-)

I'd be so grateful if anyone is able to take a crack at this old photo and see what they can do with it please.

Margaret and Amos married March of 1871 so wondering if this might possibly be a wedding photo - she was 20 and he was 22.

Any help very much appreciated...

Cheers
Lynda
