Hello,

Just wondering if anyone could help me read some information on the 1871 census for Mary Squires (wife, age 32)

It show's she has a daughter called Mary A Pay.

Next to Mary Squires, it says Wife of Gunner ..........

Can anyone read what it says?

London and Middlesex / Walters family from Lambeth
« on: Tuesday 11 October 11 15:24 BST (UK)  »
Hello,

I'm struggling to find out what happened to my x2 gt grandfather on my mothers side.

George Walters b.1850 Lambeth
Married Mary Ann Lambert  1873 (i'm hoping this is right)
There is a step-daughter in 1881 called Jane Turner (mother is Mary Ann)
In 1881 his occupation is coachman

This is as far as i have got with him.
In 1901 Mary Ann is a widow, so that means George died between 1881 and 1901, but I can't find anything at all.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.  :)

Hello,

Some information about my 3x Gt grandfather, Thomas Francis, has left me slightly confused and was wondering if some fresh heads could help me on this one?

In the 1851 census it reads....

Thomas Francis (Head) age 52  b.1799 Coal Haulier  Yarmbrook, Wiltshire

then in 1861 it reads....

Thomas Francis (Head) age 54  b.1807 General Labourer  Nth Bradley, Wiltshire

I can't seem to find him anywhere else. I know it is the same person, because all the other relatives fit.
I was going to order his birth, marriage and death certs, but I don't want to be ordering the wrong ones.

I don't know why he gave a different DOB
Can anyone give me any clues on this and help me find the correct Thomas?

Hello,

I posted this recently on the Suffolk thread, but was advised to put it up here as the place I am looking for, is on the Essex side of the river.

I have found my grandfather's uncle (Alfred Francis) WW1 army records.
He was a farm labourer as well as his twin brother James and father Edward.

I've found an address on there, can't quite make some of it out. It says Little hickbush, Great Henny, Sudbury. Suffolk. I can't make the road out though. It's .....field road. (i think)
I know it's a long shot, and probably isn't there anymore, but does anyone from around the area know what i am going on about??

I am just trying to get as much info on the family as possible, other than just names and dates.

I know all the men in the family were farm labourers. I'm trying to find out what farm they worked on and see if i can find any stories. I'm not sure whether there are any documents on this sort of thing?
In 1901, they lived at Old Oak Lane, Acton and by 1911 have moved to Little Hickbush.

Also, if anyone has any information on the area, it would be greatly appreciated.

Yorkshire (North Riding) / Illegitimate child
« on: Monday 30 August 10 19:09 BST (UK)  »

Just a quick question.......

I've found out that my G grandmother, Lillian Simpson had an illegitimate child.
Apparently, the child she had which was a girl, moved to Canada. But, my G grandmother never.

My GG grandfather spent all his life in Brompton, Northallerton, so i'm guessing Lillian was born there. She also married there in 1920.

Does anyone have any ideas or clues on how i could some more information out?

Hi,

I'm not entirely sure where to post this.

I am trying to research my grandfather's side of the family - which was the main reason i decided to do my family tree, but so far, i have had more luck with the rest of the family.

My GG Grandfather Edward Francis (b. abt 1845), born in Bath, moved to Middlesex, but looks like he lived in Suffolk in his later years. I can't seem to find any information on him, i.e, his marriage details, his death and anything/anyone before he was born.

I'm pretty sure i have the right person, my G grandfather was a twin and so far i have only found 1 set of twins around the correct year/place, which leads me onto Edward being my GG grandfather.

Any help would be appreciated.  :)

It's getting to the point now where i just want to give up.

It started off being fun and exciting that i was finding out about my family history.

Now that i'm stuck and come to a dead end, it's starting to annoy me.

Anyone else feel the same???
