Hi Everyone,

Many people who were involved in the ‘1916 Rising’ were interned in the Frongoch internment camp in Wales. Wondering if there is  a list of prisoners available online that i can access?

Warwickshire / Birmingham-Fr. Murphy’s G.A.A. Club-Mid 1960s
« on: Friday 31 December 10 09:58 GMT (UK)  »
Hi everyone, wondering if someone can help me or point me in the right direction with the following query.

I am currently researching my Local Club’s GAA History here in Ireland. On the 20th of April 1968 a group of 25 players and officials from our club arrived in Birmingham on the invitation of the then Fr. Murphy’s GAA club. There was a reception for the group on the Saturday night and on the Sunday my local club St. Patrick’s and Fr. Murphy’s Birmingham played a friendly challenge match. Both teams were later entertained to a dinner on the Sunday night.

I have ‘GOOGLED’ Fr. Murphy’s Birmingham, but they don’t seem to exist anymore. The current clubs in existence w are ‘THE ERIN GO BRAGH’ and JOHN MITCHEL'S HURLING & CAMOGIE CLUB

At this stage I would welcome any information on:

‘Fr. Murphy’s’ Birmingham History
Any newspaper references to the above mentioned event (20th April 1968)
Any Photographs of the Fr. Murphy’s team back then.
Thank you once again for taking the time to read this as it’s not your usual ‘run-of-the-mill’ query that you normally see posted.

Thanking you in advance.

Regards John G.

Interested to make contact with anyone out there who is researching the Kinsella Families of Kilanerin and Ballyconlore. These are my maternal line. The common recurring first names are Alexander, Andrew, Laurence and Martin.

The information I currently have is very fragmented and I am struggling to connect the ‘jigsaw’ pieces together.

The earliest known ancestor is Martin Kinsella Ballyconlore b1709 / d1791 Married to Mary b1719/d1783. They have a son Martin (Jun).

It appears Martin (Jun) had at least three sons;
Alexander 1780-1869
Andrew (1787-1877)
James (1791-1838)

Alexander
has a son Martin (1815-1906) who married Mary Mordant (1824-1904)

Martin & Mary have six children I know of;
Martin 1854
Alexander 1856
Ellen 1858
Michael 1861
Anne Eliza 1863
Laurence 1866

If any of this looks familiar to you, would love to share further information

Kind Regards
John G.

Wexford / Daniel Kavanagh Family_Ballintim, Toome to New Orleans 1848
« on: Sunday 28 February 10 15:11 GMT (UK)  »
May or may not be connected, but Looking for descendants of Daniel and Mary (nee Murphy) Kavanagh and their two sons James and John of Ballintim, Toome (now Camolin) who departed Dublin, Ireland early 1848. Port of Arrival is New Orleans where they lived until 1854 and then moved on to St. Louis to live. James occupation while in US is given as clerk in a Drug Store and John is listed as an Apprentice Harness Maker.

Back home in Ballintim - 1852, There is a Daniel (possible son of the above) listed as a tenant on the Mountnorris Estate (Annesley). Details  are as follows “Lease dated 1st April, 1817, now depending on life of Daniel Kavanagh aged abt 42 years.”

Also a Stephen Kavanagh listed as tenant on an adjoining piece of land on the above estate and Lease is as follows; “Lease dated 1st April, 1817, for life of Stephen Kavanagh, now aged abt 36 years”.

Honor, sister of Mary Kavanagh married a Whelan and lived at NY, Rushville, Yates Co,.

If this rings any bells, would love to hear from you.

Dublin / Thomas Kavanagh/Ellen Mullin (Mullen) Family, North William St.
« on: Sunday 17 January 10 14:59 GMT (UK)  »
Attempting to break down my Brick Wall, :)  I am looking for any information on a Thomas Kavanagh born mid 1820s. Thomas, his parents, & sibling were evicted from their family property at Rathpierce, Ballyfad, Co. Wexford. He and 3 of his brothers James (my Great Grand father), Christopher and Charles moved to Dublin to live.

Thomas marries Ellen Mullins (Mullen) about 1873 or earlier and have two sons Patrick born Oct 1873 and Christopher b April 1878. There may have been more children from this union.

Thomas is supposable to have lived for a time at # 6 North William St., Dublin, and owned a Dairy Shop at # 34 North William St..

Does this ring any bells for anybody?

Kindest
John G.
