Hi
Does anyone know if the lists from 1860s are on line to view? Rudolph Schwarz from Hungary was aged 1 in 1863 crossing to New York and I'd like to check the name of his parents.
thanks!

Hi
I wonder if anyone can help with some New York records. I have the basic info for this marriage on Ancestry (3 Oct, 1934 at Kings, New York, certificate number 17426). I would like to know if the actual register entry is accessible on line so I can verify her parents and see the details of the groom.
Very many thanks for any help, all so gratefully received.
Best wishes

Europe / Vienna: synagogue death records from 1924
« on: Sunday 10 May 20 21:24 BST (UK)  »
Hi
I'm trying to track a great uncle, Miksa Weisz, who disappeared from the records in 1924 after his 3rd marriage to a Margit Friedmann in Vienna. They were both born in Budapest but I can't find a death for either. There are about 10 Miksa/Max Weisz that I have found in the Vienna Jewish death index from 1924, so I would have to go the synagogue record to find out if it is the Max I am looking for. The index only gives a volume number of 14. Could anyone help to decipher what this means?
Very many thanks

Europe / 1900s Austrian records
« on: Sunday 26 August 18 12:05 BST (UK)  »
Hello

I would love some help navigating the Austrian birth and death records for a Hungarian Jewish great uncle.

Miksa Weisz was born in Budapest in 1882 to parents Jacob Weisz and Berta Steiner. He married Aranka Schirf in 1908 in Debrecen but they divorced; he married Rezsin Schiller in Budapest in 1911 but she died in 1918 of the Spanish flu together with their 6 year old son, leaving a daughter Joli; he then married Margit Friedmann in Vienna in 1924 but they divorced in 1929 and I don't think his daughter Joli saw him after that.

I am trying to establish if Miksa and Margit had any children between 1924 and 1929; and what happened to Miksa after that, as none of the family knows. Did he die in Vienna or go back to Budapest?

Many many thanks if you are able to offer any help with what birth/death records I could look through to try and trace him. I managed to find the marriage info by looking up the records of all Miksa Weisz's from the JewishGen database, but I don't think I can access the birth indexes etc for 1924 from here.
Here's hoping....

London and Middlesex / St Pancras Bassam birth not on the GRO
« on: Tuesday 27 February 18 21:52 GMT (UK)  »
Hello I'd love some help!

I have spent hours trying to unravel various branches of the Bassam family in St Pancras, Southwark and Essex. I am particularly interested in William Edward Bassam who was born on Nov 22nd 1881, and died in WWI. He was one of 11 or 12 children. Weirdly I have been able to locate all of the others on the GRO, their mother's maiden name was Adams and they married in 1874 (Sarah Elizabeth) but not his.

The family is ultra confusing, they all have the same names. William's own father (if I'm correct) was usually known as James William, but appeared as Charles William on William's birth cert, and Edward William on one of his son's marriage cert, although that was after he died and I guess they may have forgotten, if William for example was the name he was known by.

So should I be concerned that William Edward doesn't seem to appear on the GRO, or is it not unheard of that a name has been missed off by mistake?

Any thoughts would be very, very welcome!
Many thanks

Surrey / which parish register for Stretton Road, Croydon? Birth search 1894
« on: Saturday 30 December 17 20:23 GMT (UK)  »
Hi
I'm looking for the birth location of William Joseph Baldwin in 1894. His census entries for 1901 (address Stretton Rd) and 1911 (Alexandra Rd) list his birth as taking place in Croydon, but I'm not sure which parish this would be under so I can verify the Croydon info. His parents Joseph Baldwin and Harriet Clara Ollis married in Wandsworth in early 1893 but I guess it's certainly possible they moved to Croydon the following year. Any help for how I locate the church would be very helpful. I have already looked in a few registers - Addiscombe and St James.
Many thanks,
Emma
