Technical Help / Advice on TMP files.

I was given a digital photo viewer for Christmas. After viewing the photos with the memory card, the next day when switching it on again I discovered all my hundreds of photos had disappeared from the memory card!!!
After much anguish and anxiety and lots of family advice Nothing could retrieve them on the computer, camera or on the viewer.
It was suggested we try a card retriever site on the internet. This we did with the memory card inserted low and be hold they appeared in part on the screen.
However the catch was a considerable amount of money is requested to now buy them fully !!!
The photos have apparently been saved to my computer as TMP files !! all sitting there hundreds of them but unable to be opened !!
What I was wondering was is there any way I can open these from my computer without having to pay.
Incidentally the photo viewer is going back for a refund I cannot stand the stress !!

Technical Help / Digital TV Headache!!! My Video!!!

Can some one please help me?
My video has stopped working (recording) since the switch over to Digital.
I have a new Digital TV and it says I should still be able to record on the video but Its just all gone off.
A pre recorded video will work but not very well it is not clear.
Do I need to change any cables around ? it just does not seem to be linking with the TV, although the booklet that came with the tv says it should. My video is connected to the TV by scart lead.

Does any one know if it is possible to access free the passenger lists from Ireland to Philadelphia and reverse journeys between 1928 and 1938?
I have Ancestry membership Uk but it will not allow me free access to these.

Technical Help / Photographing a small item close up

Hello my friends
I know that some one is going to help me .This is the site I always turn to in time of technical trouble !!!
I am trying to photograph a small old brooch so that it is shown at its best.
My digital camera book does not explain how I should do this in the best way, so I am getting a blurred image when I use zoom, and when I do get a clear image on screen (without the zoom ) the item is too small and far away and I mostly see the background.
Does any one know my best solution to this problem ? so far I have taken about 50 photos and none are good

The Irish census docs are barely readable when printed.
As they only appear to open in one format, does any one know if I can edit part of the page and enlarge and print ?

[color=Blue]I had a gift of a digital camera recently.
During last week on a paticularly sunny day, I was trying to take some photos and when I looked at the screen all I could see was a dark shading I was unable to see what I was taking so just pressed the button hoping for the best!
Does any one have any idea how one gets around this problem ::)as my last camera also had a way of looking through as well as the screen to take a photo .
