Lancashire Lookup Requests / Salford census lookup by address
« on: Wednesday 18 February 09 06:12 GMT (UK)  »
If possible, would some be so kind as to look for 85 Sunnyside Street, Salford and see who is living there.

I am hoping to find  Thomas and Margaret Boyle. b Ireland.
I can't find them on the 1881.

Its puzzling.

I understand there are some censuses where an address can be looked up.
This might be worth a try as this address was given as their residence on the church records of the wedding.

Thomas was at the marriage of his son, also Thomas Boyle,  in  Jan 1883.

More details re this matter, on a  previous post, Wed 11 Feb  2009

many thanks. :)

Looking for Thomas Boyle and wife, Margaret ( nee unknown.)

They were at the wedding of their son, also Thomas Boyle, Jan 8th 1883 at St Mary's Catholic Church.(The Hidden Gem)

The address given as their residence at that time was
85 Sunnyside Street,  Salford (destroyed by bombs in WW2)

They and their son were born in Ireland ( believed  in Co. Leitrim.)
Their son, Thomas, was born about 1862/3.  I could not find them on the 1881 census. Both father and son were cattle dealers.

Maybe they came from Ireland only for the marriage, but the residence given makes me wonder if they were residents in Salford.

If they are on the 1881 census I could not see it. However I thought maybe a look on the 1871 and the 1891 etc would be worth a try.
I would love to know if there were other siblings or any details at all about this couple as I know nothing really about them. Many thanks in advance.

Here is some adlition information just in case it is of interest or value.

Thomas  Boyle married another Boyle( just to complicate things   :)   He married Annie Maria Boyle.  She was a (sewing) machinist on the 1881 census.

I have the brides family on the censuses.   at 10 Medlock St Hulme. on the 1881, Thomas Boyle  Junior was living as a lodger( why ?)  with Annie Maria and her mother,  MaryBoyle  ( and romance bloomed.)  The young lovers were  both 18.

Parents  of Annie Maria were John ( deceased 1874) b  about 1834 and Mary Boyle(nee unknown)  born about 1833,  born Co Tyrone.

Ireland. I have no ages for Thomas Boyle Sr. and Margaret,  but perhaps, as they were  of the same generation as the bride's parents, their birthdates would be about the same time.

There was also a mysterious James Boyle age 72 lodger on the 1881 census, at the bride's residence. Perhaps a grandparent of either the bride or groom.

Technical Help / 'Unread posts since last visit' question
« on: Thursday 13 November 08 04:15 GMT (UK)  »
I like to read the posts I have not seen and often there are 10 pages( once 22 pages ! :-))  and I scroll through them.

Today,  I just checked  for the unread postings and it said, one page,  which only had had 10 postings on it.  ???  Even in one day there should be more unread postings than that.

I have not been on Rootschat as often as I usually am,  due to being unwell. Has there been a problem with this service?  or are the number of pages I missed so huge that I am not allowed to see them all?

Lancashire Lookup Requests / 1861 census also 1851, 1841 if poss
« on: Tuesday 09 September 08 07:25 BST (UK)  »
I would like a look up for Robert Shalliker ( spelling might vary a little) on 1861  Hulme census and any other early ones that might be accessible.

I cannot find the birth/Christening for Robert on the IGI or Lancs BMD.

Neither can I find the marriage of Robert  Shalliker and Ann Heath. It seems as if they might have been married about 1850 if John was the oldest child.

I am hoping to find clues to the parents of Robert Shalliker

On the 1881 census Ann Shalliker is a widow and living at at 10 Dyer St. Hulme, with a boarder. I cannot find the death of Robert Shalliker 1871- 81

On  the 1871  Hulme census there is:

at 12 Pooley's Buildings, Hulme.

Robert Shalliker 56  (b about 1815) b Sollom Lock, nr. Ormskirk, Outdoor labourer
Ann (Heath)Shalliker     wife 53( 1818) b Flixton,  warehouse cleaner.
John Shalliker            20    b  Hulme,  Sawyer
Hannah Shalliker       16    b  Hulme, warehouse cleaner
Elizabeth A Shalliker  10    b Hulme, Scholar
John K Shallker        Grandson 5 b Hulme.
