Down / Looking for a Birth of Harry WRAY 1939 poss Banbridge area
« on: Thursday 28 October 21 14:10 BST (UK)  »
Hi there,

Please be gentle with me as I am new to researching Irish Ancestors  ;D

I am looking for a birth record for Harry Wray born in November 1939. His parents were Harry Wray b 1905 Leicester, England and Laura Maud Florence Kerr b 1908 in Banbridge.  They were married in Ballyroney Presbyterian Church on 10th July 1935 so I am hoping Harry junior would have been born in this area? At some point (possibly after the was as Harry snr was a POW) they moved back to Leicester as they both died there.

Any information would be gratefully received,

Many thanks

Nottinghamshire / The Sheep Farm, Ruddington
« on: Tuesday 08 June 21 17:12 BST (UK)  »
Hi there,

I have finally located the death of my Gt Gt Grandma (Elizabeth Marshall) Hooray! On her certificate it states she died on 12th April 1918 at The Sheep Farm in Ruddington. I don't know the area at all although I do know the daughter she was staying wit, her husband was a Sheppard rather than a Farmer so I am wondering where abouts they actually were? I've been looking at old maps and although there wasn't a farm with that label there was a Sheepfold Cottage? Does anyone who knows a bit about the history know if I'm guessing correctly please? Later on in 1921 They were living on Kirk Lane.

Also while I am on here can you point me in the right direction to find her burial in 1918 too please?

Thanks in advance

Apparently a Weldon a burial plot was purchased by a Thomas Marshall in 1914 and as I am still looking for the death of my Gt Gt Grandma, Elizabeth Marshall, whose last known address was Stocks Lane, Corby in 1911, I was wondering if her son had purchased it for her?

Any help would be really appreciated
Many Thanks

Hello Everyone,

I am so frustrated, I have even resorted to walking along the street where my Gt Gt Grandma lived in 1911. I didn't see her but then I don't expect she gets out much at 188 years old!!

Seriously though, I can not find a death for her, and wondered if a fresh pair of eyes on the subject may help?.....please?
Let me give you some info ~

Born Elizabeth BARRATT 1830 in Bulwick, Northants. Christened on 30th June 1830 at St Nicholas, Bulwick.
In 1851 she lived with her parents in the Lodges at Bulwick. Married Thomas Marshall in 1852. 1871 living at number 1 Hermitage Cottages Brampton Ash, 1881 25 London Road Maidwell. 1891 Orton Village living next door to daughter Sarah and her family. 1901 living alone (Thomas died in 1899 and is buried in Rothwell) 30 Wales Street, Rothwell and her last known address Stocks Lane, Corby in 1911.
This is where I draw a blank! Any help would be very gratefully received.

Thank you

Other Countries / Kenya Police - John Eisler, Nairobi, 1947-1959
« on: Saturday 26 May 18 13:24 BST (UK)  »
Hi,

I am really hoping some kind person will be able to help me as I am a little out my depth here  :-\

I am helping a friend try and find information on their Father, and hopefully a photograph or two?! Let me give you some background info...

John EISLER was born 8-1-1924 in the UK district of Marylebone. 1939 saw him at boarding school, Aldenham in Elstree.
He out to Kenya on 25th August1947 aged only 22 and was an Inspector in the Police becoming an Acting Assistant Superintendent in 1952. He was living in Nairobi in 1958 with his wife Zoe and two children were born out there. The family then moved back to England (Harpenden) in July 1959. John passed away in 1980.

I have emailed the Kenya Police (twice) to see if they have any photo's they would be able to share but as yet heard nothing. I am hoping someone may be able to suggest a different avenue for me to try or even have a contact in Nairobi who may be able to help?

Many thanks in advance

Wales / 1891 & 1901 Census left hand column "W" *COMPLETED*
« on: Wednesday 21 March 18 21:00 GMT (UK)  »
Hi everyone,

Please forgive me if this has been covered before (I did try a search but didn't find anything) I have been asked if I knew why the Welsh census 1891 & 1901 often have the letter 'W' written in the far left hand column, the schedule number column, and what does this stand for? There are already columns for marital status and language. It does seem synonymous to the Welsh census returns I've looked at. It's not every household either? Can anyone enlighten me please?

Thank you so much x

Derbyshire / Tom Scott, Rose & Crown, Brampton,
« on: Wednesday 16 August 17 15:59 BST (UK)  »
Hi,

Hoping if there is anyone out there with some info on Tom Scott born 1906 and was a licensee first for The Old Angel, Packers Row then for the Rose and Crown, Brampton.

Family mutterings has it that he commited suicide at the age of 48 on 27th February 1955. I've not been able to find any newspaper article that backs this up, wonder if anyone out there may know if it is the truth or not?

Many thanks in advance

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone out there may have burial records for Irthlingborough please?

Harriett Hollowell died August 1913 and I was wondering if she was allowed to be buried in the churchyard as her death was a suicide? she was only 37 and her death was in the local papers as she left letters to say her husband was to blame. Very sad.

Thank you for taking time to read my post and thank you to those able to reply

Best Wishes
Wendy
