Norfolk / Unusual number of Children's Death - Stanhoe, Norfolk 1800-1801
« on: Saturday 08 September 18 08:06 BST (UK)  »
Hi

On tracing my family tree I came across an entry for a sibling of an ancestor of mine.
Her name was Ann Walker and she died aged 8 in 1801, not so unusual at that time, but also listed in the same 12 month period were 10 burials, 7 of them children ranging from 0 to 12 years old, in Stanhoe, Norfolk. This isn't a very large place today and I don't think it was back then.

This struck me as strange, so many children, so I wondered if there could have been any illnesses etc. at that time and where I could investigate it further?

This kind of leads on from a previous post re Gravestones / GRO records.  I believe it is likely that Harriet Buswell belonged to the Baptist Church in Clipston. Does anybody know if it is possible to get these records or can access them so that I can source her parents as Elizabeth and William Buswell, also potentially of Clipston.

Information that I have sources for

Harriet Buswell married Edward Buswell in 1845.
Edward was from Clipston.
They had three children
Louisa 1845-1933
Julia 1847-1852
Walter 1849
The children were all born in Creaton.
Harriet died in 1850.

The reason I think William and Elizabeth may be her parents is that there is a gravestone in Clipston Baptist church, which mentions a daughter of a similar age 27, who died the same year 1950. The GRO has her at 29 at her death.

Many thanks

Hi

I have a relative - Harriet / Harriot Buswell who died 1n 1850 aged 27 , registered in the Brixworth District, according to the GRO.  However I have also found a grave stone for her in the Baptist Cemetery in Clipston, which says she is 29 years old.

The reason I think this may be the one and the same person is that I have found a marriage registration for her to Edward Buswell, (they both have the same surname, as I checked on the GRO's mothers maiden name for their 3 children) he was born in Clipston. She died just after the birth of her third child, and her husband remarried several years later - thereby perhaps being buried with her parents?

(She married Edward in 1845, registered in Market Harborough)

I found an 1841 census record for a Harriet Buswell with George Rowlson, Alice Rowlson and a Henry Buswell.  Further searching on Alice Rowlson on the 1851 census identified her as the aunt of Henry Buswell, so perhaps she is the sister or aunt of Harriet. Both Henry and Alice were born in Clipston.

So I am wondering if I have found the names of Harriet's parents - or is there any easier way to do this?

many thanks
Karen

Hi Everyone

I am wondering if anyone can help me.  I am looking for some sources for William Carter and his wife Ann.

I believe William was born around 1815ish, in 1841 he was living in Kibworth Beauchamp -1841 census. He might have been born here or in Marston Trussell.

He was married to Ann, she was 22-26, born in Leicestershire.

I believe her maiden name was  Ann Oliver Brinkhurst or Bringhurst, but no definite source.

Potential children are
William Henry Carter 1838
Edward Carter 1839
John Thomas 1842
Sarah Ann Carter 1844
Elizabeth Carter 1847

Any help would be fantastic

Leicestershire / Thomas Allen from Lubenham and Foxton 1863
« on: Tuesday 06 June 17 08:41 BST (UK)  »
Hello

I have reached a brick wall in trying to find information on Thomas Allen, born 1863, in Lubenham.
I have found information from the 1871, 1891, 1901 and 1911 census, plus a death registration, but can not find any information on his parents, or further details on his wife Elizabeth ? (Sometimes Annie E) born Welford, 1866.

I believe in worked on the canals in Foxton.
Many thanks

Northamptonshire / Louisa / Lucya Buswell Great Creation 1840's
« on: Monday 05 June 17 10:35 BST (UK)  »
Hello

I am hoping that somebody might be able to help me, I am searching for information for Louisa Buswell.

She was born in 1845 in Great Creaton. On Family Search someone has attributed her parents as  Edward Buswell and Harriet Buswell, but have not left any source for this link.

On the 1851 Census Edward Buswell, Aged 31, Clipston, Baker, Widower and a daughter Lucya Buswell, Aged 5, in Great Creaton
So the dates match for her in terms of age.

However I can not find a marriage registration for Edward Buswell and Harriet ?
A death certificate for Harriet
Or census information on Louisa / Lucya Buswell for 1861, (by 1871 census she marries John Gardiner)

I have found an 1861 census for Edward Buswell, (Dates & Places match) he is married to Mellia, but they have a 12 year old son. which does not tally with the 1851 census information.

Any help on this would be really appreciated
Cheers
Karen
