US Lookup Requests / Annie Jones (Pemberton, Roberts) b.1844 Seacombe, Cheshire
« on: Saturday 04 October 14 20:58 BST (UK)  »
I have been trying to trace Annie Jones, b. Seacombe, Cheshire, England in 1844. She married John Johnson Pemberton & had 2 daughters, Clara Louise Pemberton & Eleanor Johnson Pemberton. She apparently left her daughters after her husband died. I have ancestry membership(but not for the U.S.) & an ancestry hint for Annie suggests that she might be Annie Roberts in Oneida, New York on the NY State census 1875. I don't have access to U.S. records & wonder if anyone can check it for me please? It's possible that she married 'a Roberts' in the USA as I can't find an english record for a marriage. Thanks.

Montgomeryshire Lookup Requests / GLADYS SHONE - birth/baptism 1889/90
« on: Saturday 22 March 14 23:43 GMT (UK)  »
I am trying to find a birth or baptism record for GLADYS SHONE who is recorded on the 1891 & later censuses as being born in Newtown, Montgomeryshire.
She was living in Wirral when she was just one year old & I know that her mother was unmarried & was not living with her there.
I have been unable to find her on BMD in Newtown or any other place. Is there any other record I could consult?
Thanks.

Montgomeryshire Lookup Requests / Jane Evans Welshpool
« on: Sunday 13 December 09 23:40 GMT (UK)  »
I'm trying to find information about my great-great-grandmother, Jane Evans.

At the 1851 census in Halewood, Lancashire (& later censuses in Wallasey, Cheshire) it says she was born in Welshpool, c. 1825.

According to her marriage certificate - she married Limerick born Edward Downey at St David's
(The Welsh Church), Liverpool 27 .7.1846, -  her father was Edward Evans, a Tanner.

When I've looked at Welshpool censuses I've found several Jane Evans but wondered if anyone could find the correct one through her father's name & occupation?

World War Two / Edward William Semper - photographs
« on: Tuesday 11 September 07 14:48 BST (UK)  »
A Merseyside charity shop was given a small album of photographs & a driving licence from 1934- 35.  The licence belonged to  EDWARD WILLIAM SEMPER  of  119,  Cross Heath Avenue,  Leeds 11.
The photos are mostly military ones, chiefly of Cairo & Tunis - some have official stamps on the back.  They include images of Churchill & Montgomery, and an interesting one of a crashed German plane.  They are small photos but seem to be of a high standard.  I wondered if Semper was an army photographer.
 Any ideas?
I don't have the photos in my possession but hope that they're being conserved - where would it be best to deposit them?

Warwickshire Lookup Requests / COXEN/DAVIS
« on: Sunday 29 July 07 18:10 BST (UK)  »
I've been researching the COXEN/COXONS in the Birmingham area - & later Wirral - for a relation in Canada.
I am trying to find information on  NANCY COXEN who married a DAVIES/DAVIS.  I've found a WILLIAM DAVIS & NANCY in the 1881 census at   151 Bloomsbury St,  Aston  but don't know if it's the right one. They're also on the 1871 census in Aston.
I've tried freebmd for a marriage but not found anything.

NANCY was the informant on the death certificate of her brother,  THOMAS COXEN,  who died at  4,  Ladypool Lane,  Balsall Heath, on 10.12.1883.

Any help would be much appreciated.  I have lots of other COXEN information if anyone else is researching them. They were largely cattle dealers & butchers.

Thanks,  kater  (in Liverpool, so unfamiliar with Birmingham districts).
