South Africa / Kathleen Susan Moore
« on: Saturday 20 April 24 07:56 BST (UK)  »
I have the baptism of the daughter of Irvine Archdale Moore and Kathleen Susan. The daughter was born 15/8/1948 and baptised 24/10/1948 at St Thomas church Verulam.

I cannot find records for a death of Irvine Archdale Moore and Kathleen Susan or Sussana born Coetzee. Did they move to Rhodesia??

Thanks

I have a Ann Dunnicliff. Born 1779 and died 1849. Unsure who her husband was. They had a son George Nathaniel Austin born 1804 and died 1881. I think they lived in Grantham. George was a boot and shoe dealer.

« on: Monday 27 February 23 09:58 GMT (UK)  »
Looking for help please?

The Caldwells sailed in from Ontaria Canada to Durban in the late 1800’s on the Minerva. Robert Caldwell and his family consisted of 3 Two girls and James who settled in Ifafa Natal.

James had a son Norman who had a daughter Patricia Norma and a son Cecil who was a jocky.
James settled on a smallholding in Rosetta as Cecil raced in Pietermaritzburg.

Norman passed on and was buried. Looking for Normans date of death and where he was buried?

Would anyone have any information on the 1st South African Field Ambulance? My great grandfather was a stretcher bearer. He got a Military Medal at Arras in 1917. Perhaps someone has access to the London Gazette for that date.

South Africa / Passing of Rosemary Dixon-Smith aka Mole
« on: Friday 24 December 21 13:18 GMT (UK)  »
For some time now I have been wondering what had happened to Rosemary Dixon Smith aka Mole? I found this on the internet written by one of her friends.
You delighted us with your incredibly interesting articles spanning your own fascinating family research, including your great-grandfather, Thomas Gadsden, Head Keeper of the Bluff Light Durban in the late 1870s, as well as your articles on the Anglo Boer War, Natal history, shipping, passenger arrivals and departures in Natal, and a multitude of other well written articles and fascinating research. These can be found in Moles blogs on the internet. Mole passed away on the 31/8/2021 after a long illness.
I myself shared info with her on and off on the Rootschat forum over a number of years. May she rest in peace.
