On the 1861 Census for my ancestor George Phillips, then residing at Aston Warwickshire, the place of his birth is given as Wales Alley.  Can anyone tell me whether this was an area of Birmingham with families with Welsh connections or somewhere in Wales.  The 1841 Census gives his mother Betsy, his brother William and my George as being born ouside the county, so no joy there.  any help much appreciated.

Oxfordshire / WILLIAM WARD, Blacksmith
« on: Wednesday 09 September 09 20:23 BST (UK)  »
Anyone out there that can help me?  My Gt. Gt. Grandfather Richard Ward was born in Oxford in 1822. (according to later census records) Some time later either he or his family moved to Warwickshire and he married in Emscote.  His marriage certficate in Nov. 1840 states his fathers name as William Ward, Blacksmith.   There is an LDS record of a Richard Ward or Warre, Chr. 13/10.1822 in Ambrosden, Oxford to a William and Sarah, possible Sarah Dodd.
Any information that would help would be much appreciated.
