And in case anyone is interested in that 1864 voyage of the "Maori", the Daily Southern Cross, 23 Dec 1864, which has the passenger list, also contains the Captain's report which mentions the "Maori" departed London on 28 July 1864, unloaded cargo at Cape of Good Hope, then sailed on to NZ.
Denise and Peter's site has the the voyage indexed as coming from South Africa, which might mislead some people into just disregarding that sailing. I see the Denise and Peter page has a story about a "Maori" passenger which mentions their ancestor came from South Africa - I wonder whether they wasted time searching South African records ...
