A try from me, regards, John.

You are very creative! I know this girl was covered in excema which probably makes the pixels difficult to work with too. Thank you John

Northumberland / Salkeld - Thomas abt 1818 of Newcastle uk birth record please
« on: Saturday 20 September 14 19:33 BST (UK)  »
I would love some information regarding my 3rd Great Grandfather Thomas Salkeld of Newcastle born about 1818. I have finally found the record for his marriage, registered in Christchurch, Tyneside 12.03.1860. It took so long to find as the record is for Thomas Sawkill. It is him, as the wife is Margaret Clark, info supported by my family and her first children's descendants' accounts (she was a divorcee nee Wright). It had a volume and pg no. so I have ordered the certificate.  I'm praying it will tell me more, as I cannot find his birth. I do have two censuses to support. On the 1861 census he is living at 51 Low Fell Gateshead south, named as Thomas Sarkle (name corrected to Salkeld by a researcher) aged 40 dob est 1821, in Newcastle upon Tyne, Gateshead, a potato merchant with his wife Margaret Clark (nee Wright) and her child. On the 1871 census he is still living in Felling but at number 44 -Thomas Salkeld dob est 1818 born Newcastle, Northumberland, a cartman, with wife Margaret and four more children of his own.  Most of what I come across is from Cumberland, but I don’t think we come from there – but you never know. Hoping someone has knowledge to share of Newcastle’s Salkelds. There are loads of Thomas Salkelds in the family past, and ‘talk’ in the family of one coming from Norway and one having a chip shop!! Anyway, I’ve seen some amazing results for other people’s queries so fingers crossed…… * New to posting on this site. Have posted this in Surnames too (will link if I can work out how) to avoid repetition.
Thanks in advance,  Catherine    nee  Salkeld
