Thankyou for that. I live in Yorkshire so cannot visit the archives. I am looking for Daniel's parents as I am stuck on them. Or Rachel's parents if possible.

Hi, I have the following info. On Evan's birth certificate, it says he was born at Powell Place. Someone found the info below and passed it to me. I assume these are related to Elizabeth's family as after Evan was born, she went back to her family with Esther taking Evan on as her son.

1901 census: RG13/5113/12/16
8 Mill St, Carmarthen

Esther EVANS Head Wid 58 Charwoman Carmarthenshire Newcastle Emlyn
Tom do Son S 18 Carmarthen Artillery Carmarthenshire Llanelly
Evan Ll. do Son 9 Carmarthenshire Llanelly

And this is where the Powell place Evans turned up.
In 1881 the order of enumeration was as follows:
Hamlet of Borough, Ecclesiastical Parish of St Paul's, Llanelly

2 Station Road
Railway Tavern
1 Powell Place
2 Powell Place
3 Powell Place

RG11/5372/120/34-35

There was an EVANS family at 1 Powell Place, as follows:

John EVANS Head Mar 53 Labourer Carmarthenshire Llanstephan
Jemima do Wife Mar 41 Llanelly
Luther do Son 9 Llanelly
Mary B. do Daur 6 Llanelly

If you could let me have census info for David, that would be most helpful. Many thanks.
Chris

That is brilliant. Thankyou. Was Llangwner and Llangunnor the same place then? They certainly moved around a lot. I know my mum growing up said they were always moving with her dad's work. (Evan Llewellyn) Slight difference in the years of birth I notice but should be not too difficult to find. I did think of getting one of those Godfrey old street maps if they do one of the area. I really appreciate your time. Its so nice of you to help me.

Thats kind of you. Info I have is; Evan llewellyn Evans lived at some point in Mill St Carmarthen between 1892 and 1928, and at 37 Hawks Villa Carmarthen. He had a partner (can't find marriage) called Florence May Doyle/Rees. He married Annie Mary Veasey in Carmarthen 1928. Evan's mum was Elizabeth Evans (b. 1868 Llangwnor) and she lived Powell Place / Old Rising Sun in Llanelly. There is a Evans family in Powell Place in 1892 and I believe it was her parents at the pub David Evans and Esther nee Thomas (1891 census). She has a brother Thomas b. 1883. Evan's dad wasn't on the birth certificate but was on the marriage of Evan and Annie as Llewellyn. (which is logical given Evan's middle name) He was a merchant seaman. Esther Evans is on the 1901 census as a widow at 8 Mill St. She was born 1843 in Newcastle Emlyn.  The above census info was given to me but I have no census info from the marriage certificate regarding places etc. Also, not sure where Llangwnor / Newcastle Emlyn is to look up Elizabeth/Esther birth. Not found yet David's birth. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi, Yes on the marriage certificate it says 37 Hawks Villa, Carmarthen (that is Annie Mary Veasey, b. 1904 llanelly) For Evan Llewellyn Evans (b. 1892 llanelly) it says he was a boat sandman living at 2 Jones Place Carmarthen. His father was given as Llewellyn Evans, Sailor Merchant service. They married in 1928 so obviously these places must have existed then. I will have to try and get a map I think. Thanks for looking for me.

I don't have any censuses so will have to visit a library and hope they have them.

Thanks but Llanelli library is quite a distance from me in Yorkshire!! As for Elizabeth's marriage certificate, I haven't found that yet. I only found out he had a father's name today.

Carmarthen (llanelly I believe) looking for addresses on register office marriage certificate. "Hawks Villa and Jones Place". Earlier I was looking for Elizabeth Evans and now have marriage certificate. For some reason She left fathers name off son Evan Llewellyn Evans birth certificate of 1892 in Llanelly. So I got Evan's marriage certificate to find his dad's name was Llewellyn Evans (deceased before Evan's 1928 marriage) and listed as a Sailor in Merchant Service. I know there are docks listed in Llanelly so could he have been from there? Evan was listed as a 'Sand Boatman'. What was that?
