I am new at this and thanks for your quick reply Monica and your personal message 'topic' reply Weemanswife. I would dearly like this photo sent in the original size as it comes up like a stamp size. Can it be found elsewhere? I have now found his parents.
I cannot help wondering why did the family decided to leave this part of Scotland, East Main of Craichie, Dunnichen when it seem that David Ford, who died in 1861 owned the land, according to Census of 1841 & 1851. How much, I do not know!
I am not sure when 6 members settled in USA - Agnes, Eliza, David, Annie, George and John. James was in South Africa (Consul, lived also at Piccadilly, London- cannot find any information abt this) died at his home in Carnoustie where his sister Harriet was living and died here in 1912.
My branch; Henry Pullar FORD arrived in NZ - 1862 in the Indian Empire sailing ship, paying his own passage. Henry was trained as a Solicitor but an outdoor life was advised owning to health, so his father had him trained in orchards and garden which later proved valuable in his NZ pioneering days. He visited his family in USA and James in Africa but made his way to NZ.
What was the reason for the whole family to leave Scotland?
