Thankyou for that. Would you mind telling me which map you were looking at online please? I looked at the freebmd for Elizabeth birth in 1868. It doesn't give any Llangwnor, it only gives Carmarthen so a few to look for then. How on earth are you supposed to know which is yours???? Or do you buy lots of certificates and hope one is the right one !!!

:oYou lot are incredible. The name 'Mill St' rang a bell so I looked at a snippet of info I had written down somewhere and found that Evan was meant to have lived at 11 Mill St in the early 1920's (or could have been earlier). He fought in the first world war. Could the Old Rising Sun be a pub near the Railway Tavern and does it still exist? Supposing Elizabeth went to another relative to have Evan and then returned to the pub? But if she was a laundress (taking in washing), isn't that something you do when you live alone or with a child to look after? I mean, she wouldn't be taking in washing if she lived with her family would she?
According to the free BMD there were 2 Elizabeth's born in Llanelly in 1868. One in Sep qtr, and 1 in Dec qtr. At least thats not too many to sort out!!

Sent off for a marriage certificate for Evan and Annie (1928) yesterday and hoping a dad is named on it. Evans was Elizabeth's only name and no dad was named on the birth certificate. And Carol (lol) if she was an unmarried girl I doubt she would have been trying for a baby. She may not have realised she was pregnant. She was illiterate as she gave her mark as an informant on the birth certificate. He was born 27th April 1892 so after the census for 1891.

:)Well I did wonder whether she was related to the Evans at No. 1 but on a census it lists everyone in the house doesn't it so if she had been there she would be on it. Unless of course she had the child after the census then went. He was born in April and the census would have been the year before wouldn't it? Thanks for your help.

;DWow, that is a lot of info - thankyou. Pity it doesn't seem to fit. I just have Elizabeth Evans, Powell Place (no number) with son Evan Llewellyn born 1892. So if that is the only Evans at Powell Place then I am puzzled to know where she fits in at 1892.

And no Bob, it isn't USK. The last letter was a 'D'.
